That is very satisfactory. I hope that ugly smirk has been wiped off his face.

I checked the tape (of him leaving the courthouse), a sort of feigned half-smirk perhaps. (I think he's trying to play it cool after getting admonished for his post arrest behavior.

Jan. 6 rioter who put his feet on desk in Pelosi office sentenced to 4.5 years in prison

A photo of a smiling Richard "Bigo" Barnett in Pelosi's office became one of the most notorious images from the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“You’re too old for this nonsense,” Judge Cooper told Bigo. He said it was important to send a message to Bigo’s followers that this kind of thing couldn’t happen again, and there’d be consequences. Bigo showed “utter disrespect for the legal system” — as well as for the court and jurors — when he lied on the stand during his trial, Cooper said.

A small update on the incomplete sentencing hearing for OK founder Stewart Rhoades:

The judge has accepted all of the big (and I think overall) sentencing enhancements put forth by the government including leadership roles and terrorism, while rejecting the defense claim of "remorse". This puts the guidelines range for the sentence directly over the 25 years the DOJ requested. The two sets of attorneys are making their final arguments (and the defendant may also speak), before the judge makes his final decision, but I have to step away from my account for the rest of the day...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Oath Keepers extremist group founder Stewart Rhodes was sentenced Thursday to 18 years in prison for orchestrating a weekslong plot that culminated in his followers attacking the U.S. Capitol in a bid to keep President Joe Biden out of the White House after winning the 2020 election.

Rhodes, 58, is the first person convicted of seditious conspiracy in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack to receive his punishment, and his sentence is the longest handed down so far in the hundreds of Capitol riot cases.

Highly satisfactory. We should note that he is convicted of conspiracy; thus there are others involved. I look forward to more of the same - lengthy sentences for sedition.

Who remembers when the very idea that Oath keepers' actions were sedition was mocked. Who is laughing now?

Capitol rioter facing wrongful-death lawsuit gets two-month jail term

David Walls-Kaufman faces a wrongful-death lawsuit accusing him of assaulting a police officer who later died by suicide

A D.C. chiropractor who took part in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol was sentenced Tuesday to two months in jail for a misdemeanor offense. But he still faces a wrongful-death lawsuit accusing him of assaulting a police officer who later died by suicide.

The D.C. officer, Jeffrey Smith, 35, suffered a brain injury when he was struck with his own baton, according to the lawsuit. Smith, who killed himself nine days after the riot, was among four police officers who died by suicide in the weeks and months after battling the mob at the Capitol, authorities said.

Man who used stun gun to attack Michael Fanone on January 6 sentenced to over 12 years in prison

Rodriguez, 40, had pleaded guilty to four counts in February, including conspiracy, assault with a dangerous weapon and obstruction of an official proceeding.

As Rodriguez exited the courtroom Wednesday, he defiantly shouted that “Trump won!” repeating the same lie that ultimately culminated in the Capitol attack.

After Trump called for a protest in Washington on January 6, Rodriguez urged members of his group to travel to DC, telling them it was time to put “differences aside and fight” and encouraged them to bring weapons including knives and cans of bear spray, prosecutors wrote in their sentencing memorandum.

“Tazzzzed the [snot] out of the blue,” Rodriguez wrote on his group message while the riot was still unfolding, according to prosecutors.

[have made a separate thread for this in News]

January 6 fugitive arrested in Obama’s DC neighborhood with guns and materials to make Molotov cocktails (after sharing Trump post that includes Obama's address)

A man with numerous firearms and materials to make an explosive was arrested Thursday in former President Barack Obama’s Washington, DC, neighborhood after claiming on an internet livestream that he had a detonator, law enforcement officials told CNN.

Taylor Taranto, who had an open warrant for his arrest related to the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department and federal law enforcement. He has been charged with being a fugitive from justice.

Trump Post Revealing Obama Address Was Shared By Jan 6 Fugitive Hours Before He Was Arrested With Guns Near Obama Home

Several details of the arrest are stunning and disturbing, including the fact that Taranto posted the message “Got them surrounded!” above a Trump Truth Social post that included a news article revealing the address of the Obama home, as well as several other prominent Democratic figures.

Man arrested with guns near Obama’s house had been acting erratically

The man who was arrested Thursday with weapons in his van near the residence of former president Barack Obama had been acting erratically and espousing baseless claims that even some of the most ardent Jan. 6 defendants found distasteful, according to multiple people who said they recently interacted with the man.
Multiple Jan. 6 demonstrators outside of the D.C. jail said they had kicked Taranto out of their group on Saturday after he attempted to play a video that showed the death of Ashli Babbitt in front of her mother.

SITE linked Taranto to his social media accounts by cross-checking them with his public records. He had an active YouTube channel that was under his name and included videos of himself speaking and inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, she said.
“Review of his posts revealed an obsession with Trump and conspiracy theories,” Katz wrote. She added: “In recent weeks, many of his posts included reports referring to Obama as ‘coaching up left-wing house Democrats in private meetings’ and claiming Obama is contributing to a shadow government aimed at destroying Trump.”

Not tourists after all. I remember all those Trump acolytes claiming that these men and women were peaceful protesters, 'tourists' and patriots. They are just criminals.

It is satisfying to see that the courts' work is being done.
