  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some wrong ideas about life

Then came all this collegiate nonsense, where they started teaching one should NEVER tell a child he is [insert negative word here], or it will stunt his psyche.
This is correct. I never criticise my 8 year old son. I’ll criticise his behaviour but not who he is.

Criticism based on who you are is a terrible thing to do to a child (one of the reasons I think the concept of being born a sinner ridiculous) and does have negative psychological effects down the line.

What makes believing everyone is born a sinner ridiculous is the fact that humans cannot sin before birth. "Sinner" means a person who sins. "Person" means a born human. Without the ability to know the difference between good and evil, unborn humans cannot choose good or evil. In order to be a sinner, you first must be born, then learn the difference between good and evil. So unborn humans are neither good nor evil. They are just existing, often against God's will, causing physical and psychological harm to their mothers.

The sin nature resides in the flesh and is passed on by the seed of the father.

That's why Jesus didn't have an earthly father, else He too would have inherited the sin nature.

the human realm is not saintly…

the heavenly realms are saintly

Affirmative.

1 Corinthians 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

you apparently don’t accept rebirth

What makes you think that?: All Christians believe in rebirth. They will rise from the dead when Jesus returns. Belief in that is a requirement to be a Christian.

Saints are reborn in heaven.

That's a negative.

Sinners are reborn the minute they repent and place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Sinners on earth…

Yes ... do it here NOW.

Before it's too late.

2 Corinthians 6:2 ( For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. )

... or hell.

That's a negative.

Once in Hell, it is too late.

Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

I was a reborn Buddhist.

Indeed.

God can ... and does ... save Buddhists.

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

New life.

It's wonderful, isn't it?

Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

1 Peter 2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Why, though, do you have "Buddhist" as your faith choice?

Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
