  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As texas experiences its third week of a heatwave texas governor bans localities from enacting ordinances requiring water breaks for workers.

Why are Texan leaders so hateful? They always seem to be stomping on their citizens.
Indeed, and requiring a 10 minute water break every 4 hours is hardly onerous.

That's a legal requirement in the UK. America sure does hate Americans.

Isn't it standard to have breaks every two hours? It is where I live. This law does sound confusing to me. Morning break two hours, lunch break (extended a few minutes) afternoon break, then what? Get off early, or pay for an extra few minutes after work? How does that work? The second break would be after the eight hour day, and the first during lunch break?

Fair question, i just saw this article in the guardian and found it crazy. Are you in Texas? Are there state laws regarding a break every two hours?

Yes, it is. It is also the law in Texas. The reason for the change in the law is to make the entire State consistent. The OP fell for yet another clickbait headline. And now we have all these posters convinced that Texas law forbids workers from drinking water. No wonder. That was what the article was meant to do.

I suspect its all about paid and unpaid. Ie if one really needed the money they'd work through an unpaid break.

Whats wrong you like cold weather.

Talk about a leading (and nonsense) question! How would you respond if someone asked you "What's wrong? You like killing the planet?"?
