  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many were outraged by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago , However if Trump was actually showing attack plans to people without clearance I would argue the raid and indictment are "good" because they would be the only way to stop Trump doing the wrong thing.
Counter arguments welcome.

I concur. Maybe we can get to understand his intent in taking them, lying about having them, and hiding them.

" However if Trump was actually showing attack plans ". Did we forget they had seen all of it when they asked president to put another lock on it. Oh then all the agents there and those that guard it. The left go nuts yet.. we don't know what Biden had lying around or stored other places and? That parts ok! What we hear from the left is when we ask about Biden "ooh look over there...orange man bad".

Tray Gowdy "if justice is still blind". Go watch him 6 years ago talk about how crimes were done yet no justice "if justice is still blind". Like hearing Tray talk about what Adam Schiff said he saw "I saw everything Adam did and there is nothing there". Yet Schiff went on TV for almost two years saying he saw the proof! Adam is still there lied so many times and in front of congress yet? Orange man bad. No one else...

If you read the indictment, you'll learn that your claims are false. They did not have all of it in that room; per the indictment Trump had removed boxes prior. Nor were there any agents there "that guard it." Additionally, this "secure room" routinely had various Mar-A-Lago workers entering the room, with no escort, no security clearance, etc -- the room was never really secured. Trump intentionally hid documents, misled his lawyers so that they would lie for him, etc. It is also why, when the FBI performed the search of Mar-A-Lago, they found classified documents in many rooms, not just in the room that Trump claimed he would put a better lock on.

The history of this whole mess is well documented.

Trump illegally took both unclassified and classified documents with him when he left office.

The archives knew that there were missing unclassified documents ( hard to forget Trumps fake storm prediction he sharpied on a map because he somehow cannot admit he made a mistake).

After months of meetings between the archives and Trunps folks, some boxes were finally turned over. The archives found almost 200 classified documents, but also knew there were still unclassified documents Trump was still illegally witholding.

Had trump returned all secret material once the archivess noticed them, he never would have been prosecuted.

Then the government gets a subpena to obtain the remaining documents. Trump hands over more boxed, claims that is all of them, but still does not turn everything over. Had he turned over all of the documents at this point, he probably would not be prosecuted. But he doesn’t.

Finally there is a search warrant obtained through a legitimate process, and that search warrant is executed. More classified documents are found.

Regardless of whether trump was deliberately showing the material to people, the search warrant was legit. Trump was violating the espionage act by refusing to hand over classified material that he was holding illegally. Many people could have obtained access to those documents - we may never know who all has seen or perhaps even taken photos of them. Hopefully zero. He was given several oppotunities to come clean, but he refused.

If the evidence holds up that Trump was showing the material to people, then that just adds to the counts in the indictment.
The people that defend his actions clearly believe Trump should be above the law. I wonder if they really want a democracy, or would prefer some other form of government - such as one where the president can singlehandedly throw out the results of a free and fair election and just stay in power.

If the evidence holds up that Trump was showing the material to people, then that just adds to the counts in the indictment.
Stephanie Grisham, former Trump White House Press Secretary and Communications Director, joins Alex Witt to discuss new reports that Trump's 2024 campaign aide Susie Wiles has been identified as the key witness in classified docs indictment and why the former president's lack of respect for classified information is so dangerous. "I watched him show documents to people at Mar-a-Lago on the dining room patio," Grisham says. "He has no respect for classified information [and] never did."
