Thinking that you can talk a kid into being gay is the stupidest take I’ve read on the internet all morning.

Are you purposely giving this a one dimensional view? It isn't "G". It's "LGBTQQIP2SAA+". And the "+" at the end is loaded with many more orientations and genders. I don't think it's impossible for a child to be led to believe they fit into some aspect of the myriad orientations and genders that LGBTQQIP2SAA+ says exists.

Largely yes. That’s what I meant with autonomy. But (and this is the important part) he has the reflective ability to manage autonomy. But he often defers his autonomy to my wife and I. Because he knows we’re are the adults in the room and he is a child.

I've heard this many times from the left. It's a false statement and always has been.

You won't let your children do anything that causes harm themselves. So they don't have full autonomy. What do you mean by harm? Do you mean only physical harm? Mental harm? What about harming others? Would you let you child do something that would cause harm to others? Would you let your child cause mental and emotional harm to others people? What's your definition of harm here?

So disregard commonsense and wait until there's evidence ie until it's too late to find out how messed up kids are going to turn out. They're already turning out worse and worse though overly liberal ideas in parenting.

Children learn how to be responsible successful independent adults though rules, restrictions and discipline. Not in being left to be independent when they're growing up. That's just neglect.
