  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have noticed that you use this response when you realise that you have been defeated in a debate.

I graciously accept your surrender. Better luck next time.

No, I use it when the arguments are so stupid that they aren’t worth the effort to even point out.

It’s always an option. It’s just a matter of priorities.
If both parents need to work to pay the bills, mortgage, groceries, etc., then no, it's not a matter of simply rearranging priorities. Households need certain amounts of money to function.

Right. And if you really want to homeschool your kids, you’ll find a way to reduce the bills. If both parents need to work to pay the mortgage, then the mortgage is too high. They may have to get flip phones, and cancel streaming services. Stop eating out. Etc. I know this because we had to scrimp to get by when we first started because I didn’t make that much.

It definitely seems like a better option than sending a daughter to school to get raped.

I think the root cause isn't homeschooling, but families. Children should be removed from parents after weaning and raised and educated in communal crèches until they reach an age where they can be placed into the service of the State in some capacity.

Sometimes that isn't an option though. Like, you think people who are strapped for cash wouldn't be thinking of how to reduce their expenses? Sorry Hammster but you're wrong on this. Homeschooling can actually be detrimental if it's not done properly.

I’m understanding you now. Banning guns will save children. That means you are on board with closing schools.

Cool.

So after you've banned guns, which you agree with, and since they're the bigger threat, then we can have a look at the overall benefits of schools.

I attended private schools and remember such unspeakable acts performed in the parking lot. I dont think it matters public or private. Parents can't keep track either. Kids are just curious.
Blessings.
Sexual acts forced upon a child is not curiosity.

Do you have valid stats to show guns are the bigger threat? Or do you just go with whatever makes the news?

Back in the late 70's a survey was done among "Christian" kids, showing that by the time they got out of high school, a full third of girls had been molested in some way, and a fifth of the boys. And according to what I heard at the time, that was a little, but not much, better than for non-Christians. I doubt very much that things have improved.

No, I don't have a reference nor a link to show. That was a long time ago.

Actually, I don’t think a lot of people think about how to reduce expenses. This is obvious when you look at the stats that show the debt levels of people. They are spending more than they make.

And just about anything that is good can be detrimental if not done properly. Just see the OP.

We need to just ban public schools because of this incident. Teachers and administrators cannot be trusted.

Just like we banned airplanes after 9/11. Can you even hear yourself?
Maybe you’re on to something. I think we should have restrictions whenever someone bad does something that the vast majority of people would never do. It’s really the only way to keep us safe.

Also nope.
We read in I Corinthians 13 that love always protects...among other attributes. As a Christian one should then be moved to protect one's children by removing them from situations and schools whereby perversity reigns. These scenarios are a physical and spiritual danger.
