  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And I wasn't blaming you. I was pointing out why you asked a rather nonsensical question based on your inability to accept that gender pronouns used as they were in this case can refer to male and female. Again, if I'd used a male pronoun you wouldn't have questioned it. If your question made any logical sense, you would have. That was never going to happen. So it wasn't, ipso facto, logical.

It's a short lesson in not making assumptions based on gender.

And here endeth the lesson.

If the cop had been white, and Babbitt had been a black protester for a liberal cause, she would be labeled as the victim. But the roles were reversed.
Can you you explain why it's so difficult for you have to accept facts as they stand and base an opinion on them as they are without automatically thinking 'Hey, if she was this and he was that and they were someplace else at a different time and there was a different reason for the situation and...maybe he was black and older or, no...the other way around I think, and she was a liberal and the rest of the mob were pushing crt or transgenderism or...something like that, then hey! What would you say then!'

What sort of political multiverse is it in which you exist? That anything bad can be described as good and failures become successes and people who do recklessly stupid things can be faultless.

Because I am able to learn from experience, and I wasn't born yesterday.

Is that your way of telling me, "Now sit down and shut up! You're no longer allowed to state your point of view!"?

It sounds like you're saying that the most serious damage was stopped by shooting an unarmed woman. If she hadn't been shot, then there would be one more unarmed woman alive today. Not much damage to speak of from that.

There were members of the House evacuating through the Speaker's Lobby (the long corridor-like room she was bursting into) who were at risk from a crazed mob. (Ashli was not the only person that would have gone past the doors if not stopped.)

The large, black cop with the gun (and no doubt pepper spray, baton and Taser) could have stopped a 110 Lb. unarmed woman without killing her.

And then what about the ~20 other people outside the doors?

One has to ask at some point, just what is your purpose here? Let's say the officer was on drugs, was completely out of order in shooting, that he knew that heavily armed reinforcements were a minute or so away...let's say he'd been charged, convicted and sentenced for his actions. What does this have to do with the events of that day? How does it affect how we should view them?

On the one hand you argue that the security weren't doing enough and on the other hand they did too much. What point is it that youn are trying to make?

Don't bring race into it. I would be saying the same thing. She was not a victim.

I saw an Officer on Carlson’s show who was not a Trump supporter. He put on a MAGA hat because it helped him get through the crowd to get to Officers that needed help. He was disciplined for wearing the hat and eventually quit his job
Citation needed.

"The big black man murdered the small white women" has been a racist dog whistle from the beginning, but it's a transparent red herring.

I'm getting really tired of pointing out to insurrection apologists that Ashli was a cop in the Air Force. Some Security Forces have shoot to kill orders when guarding airplanes. She knew better.

She knew that being at the vanguard of a rampaging mob and climbing through a broken window of a barricaded door to the Speakers Lobby as House members were evacuating and an officer had a gun pointed at her could cost her her life.

She did it anyway.

Yeah she may have known. That doesn’t change the fact it was a bad shooting. Unnecessary use of force.

That certainly is the opinion of insurrection apologists, but he had a gun pointed at her and she chose to try and jump through the window. She LITERALLY didn't comply.

Babbitt wasn't a protester; she was trying to commit murder.

So she deserved the death penalty for trespassing and failure to comply?
