  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Preferred place to get a traditional baptismal gown for infant boy?

I'm curious if there are any go-to online stores that could have a gown to us by Friday? My son's christening will be Friday evening and I wanna make sure he has the right thing. It's not going to be a TLM setting, unfortunately, but I'd still like to have him dressed as though it were, for our part. Any recs?

I’ve never bought one. I know many have one that is handed down through the family. There are Latino women that make them here. Often from some part of the mother’s wedding dress. I’m sure there are Catholic stores online that could possibly do a rush order.

Here you go to give you an idea. But if you have something local you can go to, I’d prefer that given the short time period you have.

I think the first gown would be quick and simple. Buy a quality cotton baby shirt , buy some satin or whatever white material you prefer, buy a white draw string for the bottom of the gown and hem in. Instant baptismal outfit for a baby boy.

Awesome, thanks for all the suggestions @Michie!
You are welcome. Needless to say, I want pictures. Will be praying for all of you in the meantime! By the way, an elastic band would work well in the hem too.

I'm gonna try to record it on video, so I'll try to send you both. (And thanks for the tip) :clap:

@spicoli -

What did you all decide on a gown? How did the baptism go?
Lol my wife had already taken care of all those logistics, she just never mentioned it. So he had a little getup to wear and he was baptized last night.

Here's a few pics, these are his godparents holding him in the first two.
