Given what we’ve long known about the events of Jan 6, what the OP is describing, and what I was talking about when you responded to me with that video, no, it’s not relevant.

There may very well be venues where it’s appropriate to complain about the early reporting on Sicknick’s death, but this thread isn’t one of them.

Officer Sicknick cannot speak for himself and I’m not claiming he exaggerated his injuries. The media did that. When is it ever their practice to do so for law enforcement officers? And I’m off topic but WHEN Sicknick died is on topic?

If they’re merely repeating the info given to them by the police, then that’s their practice all the time.

They had sources that were (deliberately) vague or giving them wrong information (based on rumors?) and the reported that. Did they cover themselves with glory? (No.) Did they like? (Not that I know of, and I followed all of this very closely.)

Before I comment any further let me clarify that there was a violent attack on the Capitol and anyone who assaulted Police Officers should be prosecuted (as they have been) but the claim that Sicknick was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher is false. The problem is that it was reported in the first place by media eager to further their agenda. Just like the repeated claim that 5 people died on January 6th. Only one died and that was Ashley Babbitt. The other 4 died later and 3 of them were Trump supporters. 2 from natural causes and one was drug related.

The other three deaths happened on Jan 6th. At least one of them fully on Capitol grounds (the overdose, though she was in the middle of the crowd attacking officers at the "tunnel"). As I recall the other two were older men (50+) and one had a heart attack, the other might have been a fall, but I don't really know. Don't know if they made it to a hospital, but they didn't make it to Jan 7.

At the end of the day on Jan 6th there were 4 dead rioters (1 shot, 1 overdose, 2 older men) and several cops (and perhaps rioters) in serious conditions at hospitals. That's what was clearly reported (though the "overdose" and "older men" parts may have been vague given that autopsies hadn't been performed and kin notification policies).

The confusion that existed about the injuries and death of Brian Sicknick in the weeks that followed were just that "confusion". They do not alter what happened, nor excuse Tucker's attempt to whitewash the attack on the Capitol.
