I have a simple question. If the the teachers are coming with the rules and laws of the state, why would they need to cover up their books? Are they trying to hide something?
In the case of at least two counties, they have been ordered to do so, unless and until the books in their classrooms have been okayed by a media specialist who has taken specific training from the state.

So? Did they put it in on purpose or not?
They have characterized it as a mistake, so that would be 'not on purpose'.

More to the point, one hyperlink to a disavowed document is in no way equivalent to the Ed Department's activities on the scale of DARE or STEM. There is no blood-quantum that magically converts this into a major initiative of Biden's Department of Education.

Hello, if the people of Florida don't want the CRT and LGBTQ indoctrination of children they have a right to outlaw it.
Well Florida already did part of that (and more) with Don't S... er, the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act. This law, in the OP, determines what books are banned in school libraries. Florida recently clarified that it also applies to books in individual classrooms.

It's not about instruction, per se, but about making sure all books, even completely optional ones for students' self-directed enrichment, available to children in libraries and classrooms are politically correct.

Guess what, teachers can still teach math, English, literature, science, reading, history, and believe it or not, there is still sex ed!

So a lot of education is still going on. And a little less indoctrination.
It, (this law)
Criminalizes speech and is anathema to the Constitution.

That is incredibly naive. You don't link to things on accident and you certainly do not put those links in on accident. This isn't like a typo or something. You actually have to type in the name and the link.

Of course it was in there on purpose.

Does it really have to rise to a DARE level initiative in order to count? Of course it's Biden deal. It's sneaky, just like everything else involving this kind of stuff. Hidden in the fine print. Oh we didn't mean to do that. You can tell cause it's not as big as DARE.

No it doesn't. It's about the inappropriateness of certain topics that kids shoul not have access to. We all recognize that children should not have access to everything right? We all recognize that children should not be taught inappropriate things. We all recognize that children should not be indoctrinated.

I thought that your side wanted “the parents” to decide what their children were learning?
When did that stance change?

I do not believe you. Neither should anyone else.

Sex education is not currently mandated in Florida. Schools that do teach sex education must emphasize abstinence as the expected social standard. Since Florida schools are not required to provide sex education to students, school districts are left to decide what type of sex education–if any at all–they provide to youth.

Age appropriate....it's not an issue of political correctness but age appropriateness.

All this says is it's not mandated. It doesn't say how many teach sex education.

That is what the parents decided....that certain materials aren't age appropriate.

Public servants (aka public teachers) are employed....and sit down for this next part....by the public *gasp*.

That makes this an issue of employer and employee speech. Not a broader free speech issue.

When I asked you what evidence would convince you....you gave me three general criteria.

Each of those criteria has been met.

To claim anything else like "it's only one piece of evidence in 50 pages!" is just goalpost moving. That's all you're really doing and that's why I asked you specifically, at the start, for what evidence would convince you. I knew that the goalposts would move once I provided it....we did all this during the CRT debacle.

You could have just said that no evidence would convince you because it runs contrary to the narrative you already believe....100% evidence free.

Isn't that what this whole thing is about? Patents taking a stand and saying not in our schools? What are you talking about?

So there still is sex ed just like I said. Schools can teach sex Ed if they want to. So I was right. I don't know what you are going on about.

It's alright, I'm not so vain as to believe that I could ever convince you of something you have not decided to believe. My post was to inform everyone else.

Inform them of what? That there IS sex ed? I think we all knew that already.

Inform them that....? Schools are free to teach sex education? Or that they aren't required to?

Looks like a bare minimum of teen pregnancy and how it happens is taught in a comprehensive "health class".
"
  • Florida schools are not required to teach sex education. However, they are required to teach comprehensive health education that includes instruction on teenage pregnancy.
Wild stuff. One might think there was no education on this stuff if they were to rely on other posters to inform them.

Florida Teacher Is Fired for Posting Viral Video of Empty Classroom Bookshelves

Brian Covey, a substitute teacher in Jacksonville, Florida, was fired this weekfor posting a video showing rows of empty bookshelves in his classroom in late January, which several local teachers did after schools in the Florida’s Manatee and Duval counties received a directive to “remove or cover all classroom libraries until all materials can be reviewed.”

"it was determined that he had violated social media and cell phobne policies of his employer"
