Afterwards, the people voted for who they wanted to represent them. That's when Trump was elected as president, and the Republicans were voted to control Congress, which included Mitch McConell.you are supposed to vote on nominees to the SCOTUS. McConnel set a very nasty precedent by usurping that process, and went against the will of the people.
The people already had voted for who they wanted to represent them, and then mcconnell prevented those representatives from voting for nearly a year, something that had no precedent.Afterwards, the people voted for who they wanted to represent them. The will of the people prevailed.
If the people felt he didn't represent them well, they wouldn't have elected him, or a majority from his party, again. The people already had voted for who they wanted to represent them, and then mcconnell prevented those representatives from voting for nearly a year, something that had no precedent.
The people didn't get to vote on that, only kentucky. regardless he should have followed proper procedure, but that doesn't seem to apply to the GOP lately. If the people felt he didn't represent them well, they wouldn't have elected him, or a majority from his party, again.
Kentucky has voters, which are people. The people didn't get to vote on that, only kentucky. regardless he should have followed proper procedure, but that doesn't seem to apply to the GOP lately.
So?But not of all the US.
Saying, "the rest of the nation", you imply that nobody agreed with him. Plenty did. Enough to put Republicans in power in all 3 of the top areas of the federal government. So one guy, chosen by kentucky usurped the will of the rest of the nation by not following senate procedure.
I mean we can't know, because he didn't allow them to vote. That's the whole point of allowing the vote.Saying, "the rest of the nation", you imply that nobody agreed with him. Plenty did. Enough to put Republicans in power in all 3 of the top areas of the federal government.
The votes the people cast in the election afterwards indicated they were pleased with this. That's democracy in action, and it didn't work out so well for the party that bears that word in its name. Time to move on now.I mean we can't know, because he didn't allow them to vote. That's the whole point of allowing the vote.
GA is my home state. I haven't lived there in 45+ years, but it's gratifying that a majority of the voters have the good sense to reject a totally unfit candidate who's only qualification is his association with Donald Trump. And I hope the Republican Party will someday have the good sense to reject everything associated with Donald Trump."Sen. Raphael G. Warnock (D) is projected to win the runoff race for U.S. Senate in Georgia, according to the Associated Press and Edison Research, defeating Republican Herschel Walker and giving Democrats a 51st seat in the chamber."

Yeah, but then the EC elected the opponent of the candidate who the most people voted for.Afterwards, the people voted for who they wanted to represent them.
Well congratulations to Kevin McCarthy then, he'll have the exact same number in his caucus (222) that the Dems began the current Congress with 2 years ago.
The last good president was Richard Nixon? As for a good president, we've been lacking for a truly good one for more than half a century.
Without Trump insisting on these 3 candidates, Republicans would control the Senate, and be able to block all appointments.I have the same sentiments about Arizona (home of 29 years) and my home state of Pennsylvania. In Arizona, it's clear that a number of Republicans and Independents agreed this year, making it the 3rd major election in a row that Trump candidates have lost.
I’m going off-topic. I’ve always had some respect for Pres. Nixon. He really accomplished a lot. The EPA and OSHA were enacted on his watch. It was his doing that Title X of the Public Health Services Act became law. This provides birth control and reproductive health services to low income women. It’s where PP gets its funding. (It’s hard to imagine a Republican supporting this today.) I’ll also mention that 3 of the SCOTUS justices who voted to decriminalize abortion were his appointees. Including Justice Blackmun who wrote the Roe v. Wade opinion. The Endangered Species Act was a Nixon program. And—most importantly to me— he recognized what a catastrophic mistake our involvement in Vietnam was. In the early 70s, he ended all active combat roles for US forces, and began their withdrawal. In 1973, he ended the draft and made the military all-volunteer. Which it still is today. And it’s the reason I could complete my education without worry or interruption. The last good president was Richard Nixon?
