  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor, said Wednesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “It’s a huge loss for Trump. And, again, it shows that his political instincts are not about the party, they’re not about the country — they’re about him.”
Trump Under Fire From Within G.O.P. After Midterms

Now this is only 3. That's small. I expect that number to increase.

How can the republican party successfully unattached from the man without proving democrats right on their appraisal of him?

It is a bit late for it now.

How about not making it about Trump, right or wrong but focusing an what is best for America now.
Well, it has to be about him because too many believe he is what is best for America. :(

Do you expect Trump supporters to be interested in that?

I'm glad to hear it. Trump supporters aren't worshipping the man like a lot of people believe. I believe DeSantis will be better because he's a younger, more energetic, more coherent version of Trump. It's ideas of how to better our country through lower taxes, standing up to the establishment, changing the open border policies, pro-life ideals, conservatism, etc. These ideals that liberals hate will live on in another candidate and you will detest him even more.

It's about time to humble one's self and acknowledge the truth but that may be too much to ask. So silence is good enough!

I see both of them developing followers by acting like bullies, and dupe followers into believing that they will be bullies on the listeners' behalf. I am sure that all of us at some time in our lives longed for a bully who would become our champion, who would fight to protect us. In that respect, both Trump and DeSantis fail. They protect themselves. They protect the 1%. They give the rest of us a much worse chance at a good quality of life. And so where does all this rudeness and crudeness take us? They flout authority and only follow the laws that please them. They encourage us to flout authority and that is why we are in such a mess right now. Insurrections, election deniers, loud mouth incompetents running for office all over and thankfully losing. We don't need more of the same.

This should make his upcoming prosecutions less politically dicey.

The fact that you see Trump and DeSantis as bullies but not the left is astounding to me. The left has been bullying everyone who disagrees with them, shutting down dissent, and canceling anyone because they tweet something they don't like. You HATE Trump, not because you think he's racist (he's not), but because he stood up against the left's bullying and won in 2016.

You think the Democrats protect us, but things are much worse now, as most of the country says their life is worse off today than when Trump was in office. The only reason why Democrats did so well is the abortion issued drove younger people, usually unreliable in midterms, to the ballot box. Otherwise, the red wave would've been massive. No one is happier today under Biden. Democrats have done NOTHING to make our lives better.

This "Republicans only care about the 1%" is a lie. Trickle down was working under Trump and he surely would've won again if it wasn't for covid.

Trump supporters seem to be waking up although extreme others will probably never let go. At least the mid term seemed to indicate that.

I am not a fan of DeSantis but at least I respect him and can tolerate his point of view.

Covid? Abortion? It seems you are desperate for excuses. I think people are tires of instability.

Does that happen after every election? Hillary wrote several books full of excuses for why she lost. Things couldn't be more unstable right now under full Democrat control.

If they had the courage of their convictions, they would have dumped Trump long ago. I don't think it's permissible, but if the impeachment votes were held without revealing names, they would have kicked him to the curb.
