I was contemplating this topic the other day. Life is not binary, ie. black or white, yes or no, dem or republican. Life is more analog and complicated than simple binary choices. Joe Walsh wrote a good song a few years ago called Analog Man portraying our world in far more complicated terms than boolean or binary choices.

I cannot be labeled as a democrat or republican due to the fact I believe in tenets from both camps. I like leaders being fiscally responsible. I like our right to bear arms. I don't like abortions. Yet I believe in rights for all Americans. I believe in freedom of choice and speech. I think corporations should have to contribute their fair share in taxes.

Most Americans have more in common than we like to acknowledge or believe. I think we are at our best when we serve others instead of our own selfish desires. And I believe we are at our worst when we act like tribalists trying to win at all costs, prioritizing ourselves or the tribe.

Interesting topic, thank you for taking time to create the thread.

Thanks, I am just trying to sort out my own head. What I hate the most is the dehumanizing labelling of others, "Libs", "The Left" , "Conservatives", "The Right". Perhaps there are some who are dug into the ideologies that deeply but I think most of us have more complex views and values.

Well, the dehumanizing increased once the tribes discovered it's acceptable to portray the other tribe as enemies. People have complex views but many are still easily herded just like farm animals. It's much easier to follow the herd than to take an honest inventory of oneself and our own moral values.

I find the colorful graphs/charts theatrically entertaining :ebil: and outrageous! With all due respect.
Blessings.
