  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So how is that BLM thing going?

You don't seem to understand that the precinct doesn't just sit in their building. They patrol the streets of the precinct's district. Nothing has changed in that regard. Who cares where they are located?

It matters to the credibility of your story. Knowledge of a culture is difficult. Knowledge of a location is easy. If you don't even know the easy things about them...how can you possibly understand their culture?

You're attacking my credibility because you can't defend what really goes in in south Minneapolis between 35W and Bloomington Ave.

You're talking like I need to.

What does the location of the precinct building affect when it comes to how they treat citizens?

Well, like they say... location, location, location. They moved the headquarters here to a different part of town, partly no doubt because of all the vandalism in the parking garage.

So they redistricted the 3rd precinct? Does anybody police the area of the 3rd? Yes the same cops are on the same beat.

You said this originally...

"I know that neighborhood and I know the 3rd precinct and it's a racist precinct. I live there."

See why I don't believe you now? You don't live there.

I live in the area and have spent years there but correct, I do not currently live in the 3rd precinct. I should not have said I live there as in residing there but I live in the area and have lived there. I go there I eat there I visit people there and spend time there but my living quarters are not there. It was an oversimplification of my time spent in the district. I should have said something more like I spend time there or my life includes that area, something more specific. By "I live there" I mean I could be there at any given time of the day/week.

I surprised these folks supporters hadn’t gotten a shout out from some BLM branded group sooner.

I'm surprised this isn't receiving more backlash in these days when we're suddenly not supposed to say anything negative about law enforcement.

To be fair, law enforcement isn't a monolith.

Both sides have engaged in a little hypocrisy with regards to that.

Republicans who vehemently opposed calls to "Defund the Police" by progressives, have started saying they want to defund/dismantle the FBI.

Likewise, Democrats who hailed the Capitol Police and FBI as heroes, don't have a very favorable opinion of ICE and the DEA.

I think the obvious answer is the right one, people tend to like whatever flavor of law enforcement that's targeting the things they don't like, and don't like the ones who are targeting things they do like.

If/when the Republicans take over the majority in Congress in November, I suspect the feelings about who likes which agencies will shift again once investigations by the Republicans into actions by the other side get going. And trust me, there will be quite a few investigations on the way.

Hopefully the Republicans will not beat around the bush and immediately start passing legislation that outlaws all other political parties so when Trump rightfully takes his position as undisputed leader of the world things will go a lot smoother.

That's just the FBI and the Capital Police. The rest are still corrupt, racist storm troopers who want to violate your rights.
Democrats don't trust the police, but they do trust the FBI, provided it is targeting Donald Trump.

Ooohhhh, blanket statement. Republicans love the Constitution so much they will kill the vice President to ensure they get their way.
