Russian media attitudes towards war on Ukraine (Orthodox-related)

The first casualty of war is the truth, I'd hope that the past twenty years would have kept that close to our minds.

Here's a link to a Twitter thread with lots of examples of the Nazis they refer to. It's in Portuguese so each post will have to be translated but the images and video should get the point across. It's something more normalized in Ukraine than what you would see here.

I personally find it difficult as an American to take the high ground when we're still supporting the Saudi genocide going on in Yemen and have been since Obama.

One of the hardest lessons I had to learn at a young age, seeing all these wars crop up from lies, is that there are no good guys on the world stage. They are all bad guys with competing interests. No amount of politics can solve what is ultimately a spiritual problem at it's root.

And yet, no comment about the spiritual problems from the head of the jurisdiction that, not long ago, was very interested in being the spiritual leader of the very territories under attack.

Anymore, I just assume what the Government+Media+Business apparatus (literally Fascism) produce are lies, so I assume the opposite until it's proven to me that what the apparatus says is the truth.

Hasn't failed me since 2016 or 17.

Does this apply to all media / govt / business apparatuses? Like say, the one centered on the Russian Federation?

Not every Russian in that country is Orthodox and not every Orthodox there (nor here for that matter) actually acts like a proper believer. I remember when I had graduated high school I used to listen to this one Russian rock band that had a lot of Orthodox imagery in their videos until I found out what they were actually singing. And how nationalist, chauvinist, and racist they are. A lot of people in the former USSR latched onto Orthodoxy because they saw it as part of their pre-Communist identity, but never learned anything about what the Church actually teaches.


As much as Russians complain, they too collaborated with the Nazis during WWII. Russian Liberation Army, Russian Protective Corps, and even a Russian SS unit. The Nazis even gave Russians an autonomous area to see if they could be trusted/reliable for a larger collaborationist government. And they did not spare what few Jews remained in those areas either.

While I believe Putin is evil, he is still a tool of demons. I pray for his exorcism from Legion and that he step down & repent of his evil. I pray that the suffering of the Ukrainians be alleviated and that the Russians not be demonized.

I don't think Putin or Zelensky are really evil. However, they're both corrupt. And we know Zelensky doesn't have much of a choice to want to have a truce and agree to Putin and his government's condition of not joining NATO and staying neutral because the Nazis in Zelensky's government (and their army) have threatened to hang him by the neck until he's dead. So Zelensky's in a horrible position. Oddly enough, there were reports a couple of weeks ago there were a few Russian intelligence in the area, near Zelensky to actually keep an eye on him so he isn't killed. So I don't think it's that B&W as the US State-Run Media wants you to think.

There’s a Russian movie called “The Priest” and one of the lesser main characters is a Russian Nazi officer.

Basically, the Nazis allowed that parish to operate while the Commies did not. And iirc, even the Metropolitan was able to administer his jurisdiction under the Nazis, but was executed as traitors once the Soviets retook the metropolis. That’s how the movie goes, at least.

Now that I think about it, the storyline would be weird if there really were anti-Nazi sentiment in modern Russia, since they hail the Soviet army as heroes. So, the story (or at least the circumstances) might’ve actually been historically accurate? But, I’m no historian.
