Theres 40,000 sects each with different opinions,
I doubt any two posters here agree on that perfect interpretation.
And 100% of Christians ever born, alive today, and will be alive tomorrow agree that God exists.

So if our differences make you a skeptic, do our similarities make you a believer?

This forum has some outstanding examples of truly weird only- true interpretations.
I heard some believe Jesus walked on water -- during a storm!

Which means they've been fighting, persecuting and killing one another for centuries -- and will continue to do so -- over unimportant details.

Nobody has ever been a worse enemy to Christians than other Christians.

That's not the point I countered.

If you want to believe Christians have 40,000 different sects, you can also believe that, whether they have 40,000 or 400,000, they ALL believe God exists.

Her comments weren't about the "40000" showing there was no god, it was about the usefulness of literalism if even literalists can't agree on how do do things "biblically".

That adopting literalism as a means of obtaining certainty about the meaning of God's word is not of much practical use.

It's practical enough to ascertain with 100% agreement that God exists though, isn't it?

That's 100% of all Christians who ever lived, alive today, and will be alive tomorrow.

Literalists, allegorists, and even scientists.

One ... hundred ... percent.

No exceptions.

One must believe that God exists before it makes any sense to adopt literalism, or even to believe that the Bible is God's word at all.

That's right.

So your 40,000 remark can take a hike.

You can have a key ring with ten keys on it, with every key believing they are connected to the key ring.

To argue that the key ring doesn't exist, or that there is not enough evidence to show the key ring exists, or whatever is what the locks do -- not the keys.

The keys know better.

That's a different story altogether.

Yes ...

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

But for some ...

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Are you sure?

There are many people who call themselves "Christian" but don't believe in the divine aspects of Jesus. You may not think of them as proper Christians, but they don't see that as a problem.

There are even larger groups of Christians whose view of God is vastly different from yours that they are incompatible.

Only one way to interpret? Every single sentence, every word?
Theres 40,000 sects each with different opinions,
I doubt any two posters here agree on that perfect interpretation.

Where do we find the one True reading? How did you find
out about it? How do you know its the right one?

100% positive.

But that's because they have a belief in God the Father.

Either way, they acknowledge the existence of God.

Ya ... according to Estrid, there are 39,000 other sects of Christianity that don't believe as I do.

Again, what's your point?

That there are Christians who don't believe in God?

Not hardly.

Ya ... we're down to pot shots now and silly remarks and quoting everyone else but ourselves.

I'll make my point clear:

100% of Christians who ever lived, alive today, and will be alive tomorrow believe in God.

So any "40,000 sects believe differently" remarks can take a hike.
