99% might be a bit of an exaggeration …but there are some. And I am sure my actions at times have not been Christ like…but I am not accountable to you or anyone else… except God
No one’s actions diminish or negate the truths in the written Word ….if nobody believes it or nobody walks perfectly ………it’s still the Word of God…. and it will still come to pass.

So, I challenge you to lead the way….

Hello.
I’ve been to many many churches and met many Christians. Why is it 99% of Christianity or more is the opposite of Jesus teaching?
sounds like you had a bad experience, why not tell us about it.

Good question. I wouldn't say 99% but it is a very high percentage it seems...

I would love to address your question, but could you please clarify it? What exactly do you mean by "99% of Christianity or more is the opposite of Jesus teaching?" Do you mean 99% of what you heard in the churches you visited is the opposite of Jesus' teaching? 99% of what so-called Christians told you about Christianity? If so, please tell us what you heard and how you think it opposes the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus lead a sinless perfect life. He laid his life down for us so that we could be reconciled to God. Of course Jesus is better than we are.

Of the 99% you cite, many are not even Christian. Some are dormant because their denomination has told them that they have met the minimum requirement to get to heaven and there is nothing else to do. Still others do not even know that spiritual growth and maturity are available to them.

In summary the reason the Christ is not very discernible in most of us is because we we are drawn to the world, walk in the flesh, and are poorly taught.

Hello.

I think your personal experiences might be skewing your estimation just a bit. But you aren't wrong in your observation of there often being a highly stark difference between Jesus Christ and we His followers, there is certainly a lot in how Christianity is frequently practiced in the modern world that is deeply and fundamentally at odds with Jesus.

I'd highly recommend Jesus and John Wayne by Kristin Kobes Du Mez. It is a fairly broad overview and treatment of the evolution of the Religious Right in American Christianity (and because of the influence of modern American Christianity on the rest of the world, it is important to recognize that American Christianity is not only in America).

It's not going answer everything, because there is no single one size fits all answer as to why Christians (whether as individuals, or collectively in our congregations, or other ways of organizing ourselves) are often contrary to the Christ we confess to believe in and follow. Sometimes it's just the fact that we, like everyone else, are sinners and we get things wrong and do things wrong; sometimes it's just regular ol' hypocrisy. Sometimes it is politics.

I do not believe that is the case. Is there a particular behavior or teaching that you had in mind when you wrote this? If so, what is it?

They miss it completely. They turned it into something totally different

99% is a generous number, could be 99.99%

Read what Jesus says, then analyze what Christians believe in and practice. Not the same thing!
Some Christians are closer than others in different areas than others. Which teachings specifically do you see being ignored or flagrantly broken?

Christ left a clear teaching as described in the Gospels.

Christianity has forsaken the teaching of Jesus
In what ways specifically has Christianity forsaken the teaching of Jesus?

in every way possible… They have put Him aside and created their own ideology that uses His name to proclaim what He never supported or even opposed

All of them. Christ isn’t an authority to them. They listen to their own teachers who have totally perverted the ways of Jesus
