So a lot of creationists have an incredibly active fantasy life around Mr Darwin.
Some think he is even still alive.
Many seem convinced that he is some sort of god or deity.
A lot of creationists think we worship Mr Darwin, and they imagine all sorts of fantastic rituals being practiced by hooded priests who speak mysterious chants.
In fact, Darwin is not a religious figure. He is a historical figure.
An ordinary man, who was one of many people who stumbled upon the idea of sexual selection as the driver of evolution.

You're right, Mr. Laurier, Darwin was an ordinary man.

And like so many of us, he was a broken hearted man who also knew the pain of loss.

I like to think Mr Darwin was God's choice for finding a cure for some major plague.
Ego gets you nothing.
I like to think the lovely ladies who live in the neighborhood, are all attracted to me. Reality exists though. And reality cares nothing about what we like.

Yes he is.
He's been dead for over 130 years

No one thinks Darwin was a religious figure, but his fantasy became a religion for millions.

Saucy, that's not a very generous rendition of Darwin ...

Ego gets you nothing.
What does ego have to do with who I think Charles Darwin is?

Did you start this thread to bait Christians?

How mature.

You ask a good question, get a good answer, then come back with this.

Reality exists though.
So I hear.
Mr Laurier said:

That's too bad.

I like to think Charles Darwin was who I said he was, and if reality doesn't like that, reality can take a hike.

AV, not to make you "mad," but I think you might not be giving Mr. Laurier the best of your efforts in your interpretation. ... just say'n.

Oh, he knows how I think God works.

Just as God calls certain men into the pulpit ... just as God calls certain men to the mission field ... I think God calls certain men into the laboratory.

And I think Darwin was one of them.

No one thinks Darwin was a religious figure, but his fantasy became a religion for millions.

Aside from that it simply is not correct to call his theory a
" fantasy", but reference to a scientific theory as a religion
is ignorant and rather offensive.
So I hope this is just a quip, not an actual belief.

But you did - intentiinally?-provide an example of the strange unreason the
Op refers to, confusing Darwin with a religious figure.
For that we thank you.

I've used it before a few years back ...

... y'know, it's been a while since we've talked, AV. ;)

Just as God calls certain men into the pulpit ... just as God calls certain men to the mission field ... I think God calls certain men into the laboratory.
... you must mean someone like Francis Collins, right?

And I think Darwin was one of them.
Really? Tell me more!

Sure.

If you recall who Nimrod was, Nimrod was referred by his peers as ...

Genesis 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

His God-given talent (and calling) was probably to hunt for food to help society fulfill the commission given to Noah after he got off the Ark.

Genesis 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

But something went wrong, and Nimrod left his calling behind and instead, built an empire so evil that the Antichrist will resurrect it during the Tribulation period.

Genesis 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

The same for Darwin.

Called of God into the medical profession, he left it (and his family) and went in the opposite direction.

As did Jonah.

Jonah 1:1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

Y'know, AV, I don't put much stock in the adverb "probably" ...

However, I do put a lot of stock in Hermeneutics and Exegesis ...

The problem here is that when I read your biblical interpretation, I feel like I'm left with a coverless copy of an old MAD magazine, and I really really wanted to see what the rear cover page-fold was going to show me.
