  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is the Bible written so that it has to be interpreted? And why are there so many different denominations that believe different things and interpret the Bible different ways? Even Bible scholars have different views on what the Bible says.
Only one denomination (or maybe no denomination) will have interpreted the Bible correctly, right?
Why didn’t God make the Bible more clear so that Christians wouldn’t be divided over it and they could all know exactly what the Bible says?

Really important things are clear. Details are not. And its on people whether they want to stumble upon details.

As with many other issues affecting Christian belief, God has dealt with the descendants of Adam, not angels or any entity that is his equal.

The Bible itself states that God communicated his revelation (Scripture) through mortals who then wrote it up in the language of men at the time. As language has changed over the centuries, there have been some disagreements over the meaning of parts of Holy Scripture, but a fallen species like ours will always find something to question because that is our nature, given that we were endowed with reasoning ability but not perfect knowledge.

Keep in mind that regardless of how many different interpretations men produce, it isn't the case that none of them can be correct or understandable. If THAT were actually the case, then your question about "why did God..." would be apt.

Great question. Part of the reason is that the Bible is a living story, a spiritual roadmap so to speak. How a person interprets scripture is a good indicator of what is in their heart.

The EO church teaches that the Bible is meant to be interpreted in community, the church. Here is a good podcast on the topic:

division is separation ... Jesus said ( speaking Gods words )

Do you think that I came to give peace on the earth? No, I say to you, but rather division.
Do not think that I came to bring peace to the earth; I came not to bring peace, but a sword.

  1. Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 19:10
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

  1. Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Faith is expecting the Word of God itself to do what that word says, and depending upon that word alone to accomplish what it declares. Jesus lived by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. He put His faith in God’s Word, expecting the Word to accomplish what it said. And according to His faith it was unto Him (Matthew 9:29). This is the faith of Jesus and it is by this the Christian lives.

Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

The bible itself is clear. The meaning of the bible has been known since even before a lot of it was written. The problem comes up when someone gets some idea in their head about something or another and then shoehorns it through the bible to make it fit.

People try to interpret scripture, writing commentaries for others to read, which continues
to cloud the truth, raising the veil.

2 Corinthians 3:
14
But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted
in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
This is why I stopped reading books and commentaries 25 years ago and made the
scriptures the focus of extensive devotional time, and began asking.

I only value the words of those who share private group fellowship with in the Spirit.
Men and Women of no reputation, for the Lord is not a respecter of persons.

John 16:
12
I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;
for He will not speak on His own
authority, but whatever He hears He will speak;
and He will tell you things to come.

14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that
He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

You have access to truth from the spirit of truth in your private prayer closet. However,
this is not the preferred method for much of what the Lord wants to provide to us.
The Lord desires us to seek TOGETHER in small group settings with your closest
brethren beloved in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit falls upon
a group to bring forth The Anointing.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you,
and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches
you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you,
you will abide in Him.

This is to be on earth, as it is in heaven....
Ephesians 2:
4
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ
(by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places
in Christ Jesus,

7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His
kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Because the farther we are from God, the less clear He is to us. The closer we are to God, the more clear He becomes.

If you are reading a biased translation of another biased translation, you will likely find yourself in the position you are in right now. If you were fluent and familiar with Biblical languages and cultures, it would be much easier to understand.

However, we must also remember this from the Book of Daniel: " the wise will understand."

God wants his true children(the ones that actually obeys his commandments) to seek the truth. And those that seek the truth, the Holy Spirit uncode the Bible to them. Our interpretations differ because we are trying to find better ways to make excuses for our evil ways. We call ourselves christians but deep in our hearts, we are evil. Some people would try to change or edit the bible and print the wrong versions of the bible and keep us from the Truth. Some people would profane and slander the Lord or turn the Truth of the bible into something evil.
May God Bless You

Unfortunately, those Christians who are most emphatic about every perception of theirs being the result pf a personal, individualized directive received from the Holy Spirit are, as a group, the most doctrinally diverse segment of Christendom.

This is what the Lord and the apostle John mean by "abide".
John 8:
31
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, If you abide in My word,
you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Zechariah 3:7 Thus says the Lord of hosts:
If you will walk in My ways, and if you will keep My command,
Then you shall also judge My house, and likewise have charge of My courts;
I will give you access among those who abide.

Looking at this statement carefully I would have stated it like this...

Faith is trusting the Word of God Himself to do what the Word says, and depending upon that Word alone to accomplish what He declares. Jesus lived by every Word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. He trusted in God’s Word, expecting the Word to accomplish what He said. And according to His faith it was unto Him (Matthew 9:29). This is the faith of Jesus and it is by this, the Christian lives.

I like to very carefully capitalise what refers to God Himself. This helps to take away possible confusion between the Word of God and scripture.
Scripture has no power to do anything without the Word of God.

The Bible was never intended to serve the purpose that many try to fit it into. It’s not a catechism, etc, meant to clearly and systematically explain the faith. God’s church received, preserved, and proclaimed the gospel before a word of thee New Testament was written. It later assembled those writings into canon. Virtually all beliefs were held from the beginning, not retroactively by picking up the Bible and reading it centuries later.

It is, however, intended to convey all the information from God to Man that we need in order to serve him properly in this life and to be saved in the life to come.

Yes, it contains that information. Extracting and discerning it correctly can be another matter. We detect and recognize God's voice in it and can learn from that of course, but many questions remain difficult to answer.
