Hello all,

So i am really struggling at the moment. i tested positive for covid ( i feel fine though) on Tuesday and have been isolating at my house (on my own) til now.

yesterday wasn't too bad, but today has been bad. i feel guilty because i dont want to do anything i.e. going outside and sweeping the leaves up or going for a walk (which maybe i shouldn't do anyway).

I'm also overthinking everything and worrying: "i'm lazy. i've always been lazy. this is why im so skinny, because i dont do anything.if you dont do anything you're going to fade away. i'm weak.God told us not to be lazy. you cant even be bothered to go for a walk" and so on and so on.

I'm sure that it is a testing of my faith and shows how weak it is, but, as i said, i am struggling.

Note that fatigue is one of the possible symptoms of COVID, so that may be a factor here.

I'll tell you what I've told my students who've tested positive for COVID: Rest, get lots of sleep, and take time to let your body recover.

There are times to assess whether we're working to achieve the goals we want in life, but this is not that time. This is a time to rest and get well.

I wish you a swift and full recovery.

Are these really your thoughts or thoughts that just accuse you?

If the later just acknowledge them, say yes thats right and move on, paying them no more attention.

Lazy people are not skinny but fat. So try using this extra time to explore the sermons of famous preachers, like Martin Lloyd-jiones or watch recordings of different churches, follow blogs like wintery knight, reasonablefaith, toughquestionsanswered to name a few.

I tend to be lazy as well .... what seems to help me ... is I list things that need to be done on my iphone reminder and then schedule a time for them to be done .... it's not perfect but for some reason it does help me to be more diligent. Which reminds me .... I do need to go finish cleaning up the leaves LOL

Now it seems they have a pretty reliable test which can catch your infection before symptoms start. So, in case more is to come, get ready in prayer and eating good things and drinking water and being prayerful so you don't suffer stress as much as you could > simply trust God. And care about others. Caring can be healthy. And trust God about however you are not doing so great.

Whatever we go through, God can use this for our good. Even if something is our fault or we have helped make things worse . . . including by how you might make yourself worse by getting negative . . . now trust God > our Heavenly Father through Jesus is the One who is able to have us doing better; and simply don't accept less > keep at it :)

Hello John, thanks for the message. im not sure where the thoughts come from or if they are mine.

I take your point on lazy people being fat, but bed-ridden people are skinny too.

I have been watching sermons and other things, but i was fed up.

Thank you for your prayer, Eleos.

I've tried a lot of things in the past, and i find it difficult to keep them up (a schedule for example), and often leave :tonguewink: me wondering why i am working myself so hard and making myself miserable doing things that don't need doing.

I mean i do go to wor,and when i get home, after making food and cleaning up, i dont have the energy/will to be doing much else. i often think that i should be saving my energy for the next day of work.

Hello com7fy8, thanks for the message. so far so good, maybe feeling like i am missing a gear or two and i have lost about a stone in weight.

I do trust God, i think; it is myself i do not trust, and i do not trust myself to know how much i should be doing.

I'm sure that it is a testing of my faith and shows how weak it is, but, as i said, i am struggling.

1. you should always go outside if you can -- there is no scientific data that this spreads at all outside - not even one case of someone who is not in a crowd spreading the virus outside. No science observation supports that idea, in terms of cases reported.

2. take a look at this post
The Sabbath is a day of rest and worship - but it is also a great day for sharing with others. On CF there is a "Christian Advice forum" and a "Prayer wall" forum that has a lot of opportunity for sharing. Also - if you make "sharing" one of your prayer projects - (see Colossians 4:1-6) that is a great boost.

I love to watch this "live" channel (it is actually about 1.5 hours long in each vid and is recorded since it is in Australia so we see it much later in the day)

"The Jordan River is a major water source that flows through the Jordan Rift Valley into the Dead Sea."

With no outlet - that which was fresh and life-giving becomes dead at the end.

Here is an example in the "Request for Christian Advice" section of CF

Got a load of Biblical questions, need a few answers?

And here is a "forum for new christians" on CF that has some examples where help might be very welcomed.

For New Christians

You can't jump into "every thread" as some of them may not be useful - but a few will always pop up that have open doors for anyone that can help.

And of course there are those ZOOM Bible study groups that pop up from time to time.

if you feel too skinny you could always start lifting weights. putting on some muscle might make you feel better and give you something to do. just an idea. aside from that, you shouldn't judge yourself for isolating while you have covid.

I do trust God, i think;
Well, I think I need to trust God to make sure that I am trusting Him the way He desires. I need correction probably, that I do not even realize I need.

it is myself i do not trust, and i do not trust myself to know how much i should be doing.
Well . . . :) . . . what matters is how we handle that fact that we should not be trusting our own selves . . . since God wants us to depend on Him and how He is able. Yes, we could have some ability, but God has more ability, plus how He is able to use our abilities is better than how we can get ourselves to use our talents and gifts.

By taking things into our own hands, this can isolate us . . . from God and from how we could be sharing in love with others.

There is trusting in our relating with other people, but I think we need God to guide us in if and how to trust each person.

you are welcome. well if you are bored maybe it would be a good time to try it again. doing anything positive will make the time feel more productive. I like to put something on while lifting weights so I have something else to focus on.

for me I often have to push myself to do things. but I'm glad I've done them once it's done. if I do nothing for long periods of time I can get depressed.

I do trust Him.only i am human and i only trust Him as much as i trust Him. because as soon as some problem pops up then it shows that i do not trust Him enough, so then i trust Him more. I think we can always do with more correction.

To me, if you are being lazy, then you can 'take things into your own hands' by doing something. However, we are told to trust in the Lord and leave it to His hands. is it therefore right for me to be at peace, when i am 'being lazy'? as i would think its in the lords hands: why worry?

p.s. if this comes across as contentious, it is not my intention, i genuinely am interested to havea discussion on the above point.

God bless,

James.

I have been trying to do some exercise, but whether its real or not, i am getting fatigued easily. i am trying to do productive things, but there is a limit, i mean it is difficult to summon up motivation for tasks that are pretty pointless (e.g. had the idea to clean the burn stains off of my pans earlier).

I have tried watching stuff whilst lifting weights but i find that after a few sessions or a long week, i am able to lift less than i could before and then resting seems to be a good idea.

If there is something that needs doing or 'could do with being done' i can set out a time to do it and make myself do it.

Yeah that's how I feel about dusting. I don't notice dust so it feels pointless. Everyone sees different things as worthwhile so I don't know what would be something for you. If I was feeling lazy I'd look for something though. Maybe learning, like watching Youtube videos about a different country, if your too sick to do physical stuff. If you're just not in the mood for anything I'd try to not be too harsh on myself. Being sick can take a lot out of you.

Find an outdoor hobby like maybe gardening or something. No reason you can't go outside, even take walks as long as you keep distance from others while doing so I would suggest staying 10-20 feet away from them should eliminate any problems with C19 infecting others. Find a schedule to do a minimum of things starting with trying to eat at certain frames of times and other mundane tasks. If your house is a mess then start cleaning it forcing yourself at first to spend 15 minutes at a time cleaning twice a day and working up to longer amounts of time per day as you get used to doing it. Watch an educational program of some sort daily for a half hour or hour to learn something else.

I guess i'm at the point where i dont see much as being worthwhile. there are only so many sermons that i can watch, and i am cautious abut watching too much 'secular' stuff.

I can play a few instruments but that has become boring. i am trying to exercise, but definitely feel slower and am worried about over doing it. i did manage to get out for a walk earlier (keeping away from everyone) for an hour and spoke to a couple of friends, which was good. maybe i'll just go hike for four hours everyday...

Sorry to be so negative, i do appreciate your help.
