  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Modern day systemic racism, does it exist?

I see more white women using foundation makeup to make their face look darker, then they sit out in the Sun to make their bodies look darker. I will bet you there are far more white women trying to look darker than there are black women trying to look lighter. I can't speak for Japanese or Chinese women though.
Japanese, Korean. Chinese, Viet, , Filipino same.
Light good, dark bad.

"Step away from it."

It's a choice we must each make individually, just as any immigrant comes to the US and makes an individual choice to step away from his home country culture.

What kind of "plan" would you expect? The Nation of Islam has a plan to reshape African-American culture to a functional culture. Is that what you have in mind?

Its not my deal. I just asked what you
propose to do about dysfunctional cultire
and you referred me to post 530 which didnt really answer.

But anyway, i guess we'd agree its basically about
changing the story people tell themselves.
Something different to believe in and live up to.

White people are it seems now well aware
of the need to change their story - to - selves
about the status of divers other races.

dark is not ugly.

The cultural norm in those countries is to see a dark skinned Asian as
being a poor person who must work in the sun and damage their
skin.
The stereotype does apply, tho we can recognize an Asian
who lives in America quite easily.
Not long ago I met with five Japanese Americans ( men) from Hawaii.
All very suntanned.
Nobody but nobody would mistake them as from Tokyo.

You haven't read my post #530, have you?

Oh, wait. You did read it. You even liked it. So why are you saying this to me now?

I'm still agreeing with you that these things exist and that it's now a choice and time to stop. Or did I misread you?

If it existed, it would be legal to teach about it. As it is rapidly becoming illegal, clearly it cannot exist. #outofsightoutofmind

They aren't allowed? I thought blacks were born in America? What home culture do blacks want to have that prevents them from doing that?

So if more blacks wanted to live in a trailer park, there is nothing stopping them?
Section 8 doesn't but landlords do
So a lot of poor whites don't want to live in the inner city with poor blacks, and a lot of blacks don't want to live in Rural areas with poor whites? That sounds like personal choice not systemic racism.
THere are limited choices in highrise houseing. You get placed where you get placed many times

Asians do better than whites but whites do better than blacks. Is that racism?
Maybe the average Asian does better then the average white but it's the white people in the 1% and government running things in the United States

People in these nicer white areas that you point out pay more in rent. Don't you think cheaper rent might explain why people live there? Where is your evidence they are being pushed in there?

They need to build a another one. I don't have my ancesters language or culture. I'm an American. They can be Americans too, and are.
Black Americans. Different than being a white American in a systemically racist society
