Modern day systemic racism, does it exist?

Yet business use those illegal immigrants, government ( republican and democrat) let those business use illegal immigrant labor force because those illegal immigrant keep the price at the grocery store down… you can chant all you want about “ send back illegals to their country” , but you and I both love buying cheap potato and avocado.
I disagree. I don't think illegal immigrants keep prices low; they will sell their product for as much as they can get away with; illegal immigrants just keep profits high. Back in the 1980's practically all houses built in the State of California were built by illegal immigrants in the construction field getting sub par wages; but in the State of Idaho, most houses during that time were built by Union workers at multiple times the wages of the California illegal immigrants. Guess which house sold for more? Even though the California house costed less to build due to cheap labor costs, they still sold for multiple times more than the houses in Idaho built by Union workers.

Black male offenders continued to receive longer sentences than similarly situated White male offenders. Black male offenders received sentences on average 19.1 percent longer than similarly situated White male offenders during the Post-Report period (fiscal years 2012-2016), as they had for the prior four periods studied. The differences in sentence length remained relatively unchanged compared to the Post-Gall period.

Demographic Differences in Sentencing

Well, that does not sound good.

I wonder what one would find if say 1000 of such longer
sentences were examined in detail.
Is it certain areas? Is it related to prior offenses?
Anything except just race?

.My point was there is not a high police presence there. Cops don't sit on the corners of the guetto.
Oh they don't.....Tell me more about "the guetto."

19 percent? That could be explained in any number of possible situations besides systemic racism. They also have more systemic, i mean disproportionate gang activity.
Let's hear a couple of reasons why blacks get harsher penalties for similar crimes?

The full report is on the Unites States Sentencing Commission website. They get into some of the variables/considerations etc.

Culture. Niiiice.

What is it about "their" culture do you think?
I think it’s more of a street culture that a large percentage of black youth’s seem to get involved in where doing good in school will get you accused of “acting white” (Obama even spoke of this during his speech to the DNC) Or the “no snitchin”/“snitches in stitches” where people who see crime committed are warned against telling the Police about it. When one does get money, rather than investing it in something allowing growth, it is often used to flex and floss with the newest shiny thing like fancy cars, fancy clothes, and walking around with bundles of money (getting eaten up by inflation) like rappers, rather than investing in stores, or some type of business adventure. A survey was done that showed that blacks families on average have 1/10th the wealth of white families, yet they wear more expensive clothes, more accessories on their cars, spend more on their hair and jewelry than white people. Blacks from the Diaspora don't seem to have this problem. This is a cultural problem, not a systemic racist problem.

Nope. There is no evidence of systemic racism. Are there problems? Is there racism? Sure but its not systemic racism.
You've been given pages of answers and examples and here you perpetuate the pattern I described. Thanks for illustrating my point further with a demonstration.

19 percent isn't evidence of racism. If the system were racist i would expect the number to be much higher. Factor that into the fact that black Americans disproportionately commit more crime and what does the picture look like? Not racism.

Gang activity for one. People in the ghetto can't call the cops like other people because they will become a target. Gang activity is a primary reason for black americans being killed and incarcerated.
What is your definition of “ghetto”?

Black folks get a longer sentence but thats because of a judge not because the system itself is racist. The system may allow the judge to hand out different sentences but that has nothing to do with racism. The law is not set up that way to oppress anyone. Should the problem be fixed? Perhaps but its not the system that is racist.

Am I to assume you think that the really well-known graph comparing median household incomes means that blacks are somehow overall on average inferior?

You can't look at this graph and NOT see systemic racism unless you think blacks are on average somehow inferior.

ST_2016.06.27_race-inequality-ch1-01.png

So by all means SAY OUT LOUD WHAT YOU THINK. Please. WHY are blacks and hispanics so much lower on median household income (MEDIAN, not mean...which means that extremes are less of a leverage point).

Then that chart also says the system racially favors Asians over whites...unless you think whites are on average somehow inferior to Asians.

I didn't see that. Whites are discriminated against too?

Anyone who's been there would know. Its an area that mostly blacks live in, is infested with gangs, and people are afraid to call cops.
Why do “mostly black” people live there?
