• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

These are at best edge cases and the counting can be a bit fuzzy. But miscounting or misattributing hospitalized patients as COVID patients when COVID is a minor or non-cause of their hospital stay does NOT explain why hospitals are filling up with patients.

This was inevitable as the numbers of infected steadily increase. The numbers will obviously multiply accordingly.

How many of those aren’t voluntary?

It sounds like pretty soon there’s going to be a lot of involuntary vaccinations thanks to Biden. So far his ideas haven’t been the best and this is just another idiot idea to add to his list.

Whatever one might like to call it, financial motivation does seem to help : Delta Air Lines official says 4,000 unvaccinated employees got shots after surcharge announcement

Henry Ting, during a media briefing with the Infectious Diseases Society of America, said almost 20 percent of the 20,000 unvaccinated Delta employees moved to be inoculated after CEO Ed Bastian announced the new surcharge policy on Aug. 25.

No I’d say it’s more from complacency and mask mandates and social distancing being lifted.

What do those have to do with increased hospitalization, if not from COVID? (Or is this you acknowledgement that it is COVID that is using up all of our hospital capacity?)

I've noticed that if anti-vaxx propaganda is corrected to become consistent both with other anti-vaxx claims and the actual data, it tends to look a lot less anti-vaxx and lot more like the conclusions from mainstream medical research.

Actually, I want all to repent and believe the gospel. That is far more important than saving lives in this world.

And people wonder why I and others think religion is harmful to society, on net. (It took me a long time to overcome my indoctrination to the notion that religion was a good thing.)

I wouldn't have thought anyone was a good or moral Christian that held such a point of view back in the day when I was a Christian, and I still can't.

Some people like to call it "financial motivation."

That's a nice way of saying that if you threaten someone's livelihood, they may be forced to capitulate.

If Delta had offered a bonus for employees who agreed to be injected, that would have been different, but that wasn't done. Making them choose between their health and their family's standard of living isn't exactly admirable.

No, that's 10k cases over 7 days.

Cases | NC COVID-19
That's per day, a rolling average.

NC has had 15k deaths already, thats nearly half the average annual flu deaths for

They are not only threatening my livelihood, but my life, so you aren't going to get a lot of sympathy from me.

I can’t think of anything more moral than not wanting people to spend eternity in hell.

I don't know if I buy this. I've seen the anti-vaxx messaging change to condemn pretty much any approach toward helping people do the right thing.

We weren't talking about the anti-vaxx cause or messaging. There wasn't one word in your post about that.

But it makes good business sense -- Doing it your way would cost them money; doing it their way saves them money.

Yup plenty of things require a waiver that are usually safe if done correctly.

The vaccine is voluntary -- you choose to work for me, that means that either you choose to follow my rules, or you choose to work somewhere else.

See? Your choice.

I can’t think of anything more moral than not wanting people to spend eternity in hell.

Whether it is moral or not, you can do all the *wanting* you want about other people and "hell". I don't find the notion of hell plausible, so I don't concern myself with it. Either way, isn't it between you (or me) and any deity that might exist, not between you and me, or your church and me or anyone else who doesn't want to go. You have every right to pay to mail me a flyer, build a church and invite people in, or even go door to door (in which case I will politely ask you to leave and not come back). You don't have the moral right to force people and certainly don't have the legal right to do so.

In the mean time, why not try to make life better for every one and prevent some disease, some pain, some loss, some suffering here on Earth? (Or do you *want* there to be death and suffering? I've seen that from some in religion, but I cannot comprehend it. I hope that isn't you.)
