What's going on in Afghanistan is very scary and very sad.

We can pray for the people of Afghanistan. Many are tired of the fighting, and just want a return to normal life. Not everything is as it seems. This might end badly, but not necessarily across the board. The Taliban, depending on who you ask, are sometimes just the locals. There have been split loyalties, and brothers reluctant to fight against brothers. They have internal issues to deal with, which contributed to our long stay.

My admittedly incomplete understanding of the situation is that a lot will come down to how those locals handle the various warlords who might try to take advantage of the power vacuum. Although the situation might look bleak at the moment, and some people may need to seek asylum, I don't think all hope is lost. It might turn into a breeding ground for terrorists, but it's also possible that their country might return to a semblance of its pre-Russian invasion prosperity. Only time will tell how well they manage.

I work with multiple people whose families are from there. The politics are complicated, for sure.

I'm sorry you're feeling down. But I'm willing to bet there's not a student who feels ashamed to have your instruction. In fact, I think they're bettered because of you. One light in a sea of darkness. Don't underestimate your impact.

That's crazy. Reality shows used to be really popular. I watched a few in the early days. We had one along those lines about marrying a millionaire. They gather the worst snippets! Many did it to gain notice before social media took off.

I'd need a wardrobe and lots of jewels of course! And I love Bridgerton.
