Honestly I don’t know, usually these kinds of statements are made in a stereotypical blanket. I mean when a person says “white people do this or that” that includes me. I think people often tend to forget all the white people that died in the Underground Railroad and those who fought and died to free the slaves in the Union Army. I feel like in most cases white people today are grouped together with the wealthy plantation owners as if anyone alive today had anything to do with that era.

I see what you are saying. But,in a way, that is the real problem when there is a discussion about race.People get defensive when their respective colors are referred to negatively and take it as a very personal affront when it is not meant that way. We need to try to understand each other and assess where each other is coming from. Where are we alike? How would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot? Walk a mile in each other's shoes.

Almost everyone felt outrage when George Floyd was murdered.But some felt the cop was right to kill him. That is where the problem was.`

There were, however, organized and violent anti-government gangs which had begun to look for opportunities to pit different Americans against each other and challenge the rule of law. If the rioting had been spontaneous, the perpetrators would not have been organized from outside the area in question.

Carol Anderson is solid. Her potrayal of White Rage is of something subtle and insidious which permeates systems. She wanted to do a kind of geneaology of the phenomenon. For her WR can be triggered by black rebellion/resistance/resolve. The extreme levels of vitriol and unreasoning hatred against CRT and BLM seems to confirm this.

There’s nothing unreasoning about hating a weapon designed to destroy you. It’s as rational as fearing a 9mm Beretta pointed at your head…

I didn't deny that systemic racism occurs elsewhere. I said that systemic racism in the west is the preserve of white people. Systemic racism is racism that is exercised through the state. This is not possible for ethnic minorities

Can you give an example of such Systemic racism exercised through the state?

As for my family, we immigrated (legally) from Eastern Europe in 1941. Seems there where a whole bunch of white people identifying as part of the National Socialist Workers Party wanted us dead. My parents who were children at the time legally entered the US with their parents. My mother spent 6 months in a camp and my father 7 months before being allowed to enter.

If I chose to swell on events that were racist, I could share perhaps hundreds. I choose not to. Jesus set me free from that in 1985.

Yes, but I do try to see the opposite perspective for the sake of love.

I thought people from Eastern Europe were white. You say you are not so you have taught me something. Thank you. It is hard living in a place where people hate you and want to kill you and yours. It is good your parents were able to move to a more hospitable place. They did choose to come to America, right? I mean, they were not kidnapped and brought here by force and forced into slavery, right? Big difference.And rights, you never had to fight for them here in America, basic human and civil rights?

We are all just playing into the devil's hands, aren't we? Us against them. That's not what Jesus sees when He looks at His body here on earth. By this we shall be known as His disciples: that we have love for one another.

But I'm sure it's much better to keep reinforcing the divide. It's all the other side's fault.

The devil has been tricking us into sinning since the garden of Eden. We as Christians should be the examples of having learnt not to play into his hands and helping him to fuel the fire.

I wasn't even addressing the author of the book, I don't even know if they are a Christian or not, to know that there is a battle that we are engaged in here, aware or not.

I was talking about the way this 'discussion' is being carried out. We have slandered each other worse as brethren than we have the author of the book. Apparently, that doesn't matter to you.

The slander is a side issue, but it doesn't help. The division we are engaging in is what I am really concerned about. You just raised that concern by your misinterpretation of my response. Didn't stop to think about all the possibilities of what I might mean. Just went right in there. Sanctimony? Because it would be nice if we could be more unified while having a discussion? If it's hypocritical to not want to get ugly with each other and treat each other with respect, then I am not surprised that it would make sense to one who holds that view.

No one is saying that ONLY whites can be racist. The argument is that systemic racism (in the west) can only be perpetrated within white systems.

Whites were pretty angry before the mugshot picture became the centerpiece for the BLM. Whoever came up with that had to know it would fan the flame of racial division for years to come. If those folks truly wanted racial harmony they would dump both the 'portrait' and the letters b,l,m, and go about pursuing racial justice arrests a different way.
