Hitchens was quite vocal about us being the authors of our own moral code .. without any need to reference the Bible for doing so (this is the essence of Humanism).
He was also supportive of going where the evidence takes us (or the scientific method).

I'm not going to counter whatever translation he used with the KJB; other than to say that in those three verses he posted, where his says "slave," the KJB says "servant."

It looks like academia will even Arab-phone the Bible to bring back the slave mindset as a godly thing.
