I am a Biblical flat earth believer, not sure what models you speak of.

Have you read Genesis 1? "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Notice that "heavens" is plural. This conflicts with your "signature", that reads in part "Nowhere in the Bible is it stated that God created a universe/outer space. Where the sun, moon, stars, are located thousand and millions of miles away. Nowhere in the Bible is it stated that God created planets. Only heaven, earth, the sun, moon and stars (host of heaven) is stated as being Gods creation."

If you want to discuss Genesis 1 creation, come over to a flat earth thread this person thread as he stated is about something else, when he replied to me.

What I'm hoping is that we can discuss the phenomenon: the way that we are being submerged in digital technologies. The fact that if this process continues as planned, we will eventually be more at home with perception and action in the digital world. The real world will become inaccessible (due to neural implants which create a permanent digitisation).

I'd also like to discuss your methods for switching off, tuning out and reconnecting with creation. Do any of you go on digital detoxes for example?

I go for a walk in a nearby nature preserve almost daily. The digital devices I use are just simply devices; they have no power over me.

The current state of affairs technologically was predicted long ago by various philosophers and sociologists. There were writers doing this inthe Renaissance!
In the renaissance? Impressive... though, I'm dubious.

How specific were they? Also, did they make predictions that turned out to be wrong?

Are you expecting a kind of dystopia where people are forced to have neural implants?

Oh no, it will be a choice. Elon Musk already has Neuralink. In another 50 years I think that they will be commercially available. Eventually they will become necessary to function in society of coursee. Our devices simply shrink until they become implantable. This is an inevitable process.

Well not to get all picky about words here, but if they are necessary to function in society, then in practice people would be forced to have them.

That actually kind of sounds like a mark of the beast, to me. But if that's the case, it's been prophesied to happen so there's nothing we can do to stop it, imo.

It does in the sense that we are being caught up in the net unwittingly. We need to be aware. Not to be obsessive and paranoid, but so that we can make right choices.
There will be a time when you willl be able to modify your own genes or receive neural implants. The church has no stance on these things, but they will have huge consequences.

While I agree that Christians need to be aware, whatever will be will be. Will it be your view, maybe, maybe not. The main point is that it will be like the days of Noah, it will be very sinful and the love of many will grow cold.
You can cause yourself no end of worry or you can accept that the world will go down the drain but that ultimately God is in control so you don't need to worry about it.

Matthew 6:27
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Nor will you change the projectory of the world.

Snatch those out of the fire that you can snatch
Jude 1:23
save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
But that will be done by showing them the gospel. For the rest all you can do is show mercy.

We will need to be able to minister to the world. An awareness of the phenomenon is essential. Worry is uncalled for. God is in control. One reaosn I created this thread is that I can see Christians caught up in the digital grid. I think it is essential to discuss this

Chinese company Mihoyo, known for the game Genshin Impact, is targeting the creation of a virtual world that people can live in by 2030. The goal is for it to accommodate a billion people. Odds are they won't hit that date but the intention shows where gaming could be leading to.

Fortnite is also very ambitious and some claim it could build the next version of the internet, called the Metaverse. "The next version of the Internet is often described as the Metaverse, a term borne from science fiction, describing a shared, virtual space that’s persistently online and active, even without people logging in. It will have its own economy, complete with jobs, shopping areas and media to consume. The Metaverse is inevitable, many believe, and the Silicon Valley C-suite has been obsessed with the idea — as has a video game company in Cary, N.C."

Yes. The aim is to develop full-immersion VR with a 'full sensory wraparound'. There is no difference between the real world and virtual world.

Yep, it's supposed to be where you can taste food, smell flowers, etc. I think one of the reasons things are so centered on gender, race, appearance, and all that is because in VR you'll be able to "be anyone". Whatever thing you've been made to feel insecure about or to dislike about yourself by the media and politics you can change, you can reinvent yourself, and especially for young people this will be very alluring. All the danger and chaos we see plays into it too. People afraid of the real world will be able to have safe, exciting adventures in the virtual world. Ready Player One gives us some idea of what a VR world could be like.

Now I don't know that immersive VR will be evil in itself. Yet, much like how movies and TV can be bad influences, the ability to influence people experiencing a digital world that is real to their senses will be much greater.

Nobody I know in the world of technology lives in the world of virtual reality, talks about it incessantly or wants to completely alter the fabric of reality. People in technology go to their jobs, do them as well as they can, then go home. (BTW, are you living in the world of virtual reality?)
Really? Computer geeks basically never disconnect unless they are sleeping. And since you can work from home now, there is no dividing line between work and home.
