It must be GREAT to know all things perfectly! Does God approve of your perfected god-like knowledge?

I'm envious of your greatness. And that's a sin, I know. But you gotta admit it is an enviable thing for you to know all things perfectly.
How does this apply to my advice for someone who says they don't have evidence, to "keep looking"?

Do you agree with me that they should?

Personally, I think that's good advice.

...did Adam ...
Who mentioned Adam?

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Who's "us" in that passage?

Ahhhh, angels in heaven and God himself. Got it!

Did they write anything down about it?

The origin of our species, whether by creation or evolution, cannot be tested in a laboratory, so empiricism doesn't apply. No one was around to observe and record the origin of our species.

And the only evolution we are able to observe in the present is microevolution, such as oscillations in the size of finch beaks, rather than large-scale changes like fish to amphibian or ape to man.
I hope you realize that no biologists say this, and it makes you look absurd to those of us who actually understand ToE?

Are you familiar with Dunning-Kruger effect? It describes creationists perfectly. To have a legitimate PhD (unlike Hovind’s book report “PhD” from a church), and to then espouse creationist claptrap would literally cause their mental health to be questioned.

No, it applies to your contention that YOU don't need to keep looking for evidence for your positions.

You simply claimed it only applied to others.

Do you agree with me that they should?

Oh, most assuredly. The difference between us is I don't automatically discount their findings when it doesn't comport to my wishes.

Personally, I think that's good advice.

If only you felt it applied to you. That would be good advice. But since you think you are superior in knowledge it is clearly unnecessary.

Again I ask: since you have god-like knowledge, is God happy about that?

Do you know what verbal plenary inspiration is?

It's a doctrine that says the Holy Ghost (third Person of the Godhead and included in the "us" passage) wrote Genesis 1.

Now ... admittedly Adam penned the actual physical words, but God gets the ultimate credit.

Do you know what verbal plenary inspiration is?

So that's a big "no, they did not", correct?

Now ... admittedly Adam penned the actual physical words, but God gets the ultimate credit.

And presumably God spoke it in Jacobean English because that's all Adam came created with, right?

No, it applies to your contention that YOU don't need to keep looking for evidence for your positions.
Again, let me reiterate:

I am not obligated to hunt for evidence of my positions, like scientists are.

Please don't hold me to your standards, or you'll confuse yourself.
Oneiric1975 said:

That's right. It applies to others.

If others are going to tell me there's no fossil evidence for this or that ... and they want me to accept it over what the Bible says ... then they'd better produce the evidence to back their claims.

Then they can listen to me hand wave it away and say it can take a hike.

"Wishes" or "beliefs"?

I don't automatically discount their findings either.

I run them through a set of standards:

1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own

Then I discount them.

Me, myself & I.
I like to tell people there's nothing wrong with talking to yourself.

And there's nothing wrong with responding.

And there's even nothing wrong with arguing with yourself.

BUT when you start saying, "Okay, you two, knock it off!", now you've got a problem.

So I don't need to believe anything you say? Good to know.

If others are going to tell me there's no fossil evidence for this or that ... and they want me to accept it over what the Bible says ... then they'd better produce the evidence to back their claims.

Thankfully it doesn't work the other way, right? If someone demanded evidence for ANY claim you make about the Bible and your response is simply to point to the Bible, do you think that amounts to "evidence"?

I don't automatically discount their findings either.

I run them through a set of standards:

1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own

Then I discount them.

That's called a confirmation bias filter. It starts with a claim that the Bible is ipso facto correct (with ZERO evidence) and then you go from there.

I'd ask for EVIDENCE for your claim but I'm sure it doesn't exist.

Good thing you are superior to all others and can make unevidenced claims all the day long while demanding OTHERS do so.

Don't just take my word for it. Run it through the Bible and see what the Bible has to say.

In the case of my advice to "keep looking," I would like to think that I wouldn't have had to even give that advice.

But ... whatever.

I still say scientists should keep looking.

Especially now that they have updated Fossil Finder equipment.

I'm tired of hearing they looked for this and that a hundred years ago and didn't find anything.

What's their excuse today?

I could turn that around and ask you what language you think they spoke here ...

Genesis 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

... then ask for evidence of your answer; but you're too smart and educated to even venture a guess.

Or I'd hoist you by your own petard.

Faith can be a stitch, can't it? ;)

So can the scientific method.

And what you call "making unevidenced claims," I call ...

1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own

And while "unevidenced claims" and "speculations" are basically the same; mine sounds better.

So you think cuz the Bible is silent on what the one language was it was Jacobean English? Sounds to me like you just making stuff up about the Bible. Something I don’t think God would be ok with

Would you feel that way, if I thought it was Hebrew?
