  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you believe about January 6th?

Did Trump supporters violently take over the capitol on January 6th.

I've seen more shocking things that were not considered "criminal" at all by the left.

...yes but none of them were necessarily aimed at (and on the precipice of) enabling it against the vice president of the United States.

You DO know that many REPUBLICANS also barricaded themselves in safe rooms during the "impromptu tourist entry", correct?

Why do you think that was? Was it because the impromptu "tourists" were going to give them lots of kisses and hugs and they had just ironed their clothing and didn't want to get it all wrinkled?

It’s only because you sympathize with the attackers that you see it this way. If the were BLM or Islamic radicals and this had happened under a Democratic administration, you’d all be screaming from the rooftops over this “minor incident”.
Maybe it's because we literally watched BLM do worse crap for a year and watched the News yawn about it. After awhile you just shrug and decide it must be the new normal. But when a few people on the right go off the rails suddenly it's an insurrection.

Appealing to emotion won't stand up as evidence in a court of law, and that is where the truth will likely come out and the seriousness will be discussed NOT in the court of opinion.

So now "evidence" is "appealing to emotion"? Huh. Interesting.

I never called them tourists at all, not sure why you have to relate to that wording with me. Let all these people face the legal system and stop all the rhetoric as to their guilt as neither you or I are jurors or judges who are responsible for determining the truth and administering justice.

I'm sure former Vice President Mike Pence was feeling quite emotional when he realized just how close the insurrectionists came to him and his family. I'm sure he was well aware that they were after him.

How the rioters who stormed the Capitol came dangerously close to Pence

With New Video Footage, Managers Show How Close Rioters Got To Pence And Lawmakers
As much as I sometimes feel Pence deserved to feel uncomfortable about his actions I don't think he was at anywhere the risk that the media wants us to believe he was... The secret service is well able to take care of the situation.

Evidence is not emotional, and emotion can confuse facts with fantasy.

What facts are being confused with fantasy? Did the Legislators NOT barricade themselves in safe rooms? Did Secret Service NOT rush VP Pence out to safety? Did the "improptu tourists" NOT smear excrement on the walls of the Capitol Building? Did the "improptu tourists" NOT mount a gibbet and demand that Nancy Pelosi and VP Pence be found?

THE FACT THAT SECRET SERVICE HAD TO BE UTILIZED is itself a HUGE problem.

When someone makes a legitimate threat against a member of the Executive Branch they are usually not "let off". It is a crime.

You appear to be an apologist for them. So I lumped you in with the others who are apologists for the insurrectionists.

Let all these people face the legal system and stop all the rhetoric

What about YOUR rhetoric? You have continuously painted this event as something that was overhyped by the media or was "imaginary" per your own words.

as to their guilt as neither you or I are jurors or judges who are responsible for determining the truth and administering justice.

Oh, I didn't realize I couldn't discuss what I watched in real time on the news live on Jan 6. My bad!

I never used the word tourist.

Not really.... the SS often does things "just in case" to be extra safe it doesn't necessarily mean that the situation is dire at all. As for someone threatening members of the Executive branch being a crime......... only when a conservative does it... a liberal can threaten as much as they want and be "safe".

Let's see...

Ashli Babbitt, 35, was murdered by a Capitol guard.

Roseanne Boyland, 34, died of acute amphetamine intoxication.

Kevin Greeson, 55, died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Benjamin Phillips, 50, died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Now...

How many is that? And who exactly was killed by the "insurrectionists??"

The thing is..... unless the courts decide it was truly an insurrection then NOBODY died as a result of "insurrection".

The people responsible were idiots and I don't support what happened January 6.

However, it absolutely pales in comparison to all the rioting, destruction, looting, brutality and murder performed by BLM and antifa that lasted for months upon months and I believe is still going on in some areas. The January 6 situation was over in a matter of hours. But people act like it was the worst thinh in nations history because of the building it happened in. What about in Seattle when antifa tried to murder police officers by locking them in the police station and catching it on fire?

BLM and antifa are a stain on this country and should be held accountable for their crimes as much as anybody involved with January 6.

Careful, they are going to say his two strokes the day after the insurrection had nothing to do with the insurrection itself.

Pretty sure the man wasn't going to die the next day had the insurrection never happened, but hey, that doesn't fit the picture that Jan. 6 was no big deal!
