  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With that logic, are you making the claim He didn't write it?
No. Even if I believe it, it's still just a claim. 4 + 4 = 8 is a claim that can be substantiated. The divine authorship of scripture cannot.

For the reason there is some hyperbolic statements in scripture doesn't mean it always is. Context is KING. What needs to be asked if the Flood wasn't world wide why wouldn't God just instruct Noah to get up and move to a different region of the world. Why build a large Ark about 510 feet long, 50 feet high, around 85 feet wide? I mean it's not that God hadn't told people to do this in scripture. ( Gen 11....Gen 12) Why not then? Would have been a lot easier solution right? Except....if there really was going to be a world wide flood.

Neither you nor me heard God to instruct Noah to do anything. We just read about it in a very ancient story.

Why to built the ark instead of telling Noah to move - because the ark was a symbol of salvation in Christ.

Why are they fundamentals then?
They are not. Its a modern invention. Literal reading of Genesis or saying that Alaska was included in Noah' flood are not fundamentals to Christian faith in any way.

It's in Kentucky, so you'll have to wait on the next worldwide flood, and that's not coming, God assured us of that.
Riiiggghhhtttt... Or maybe God decided to build it in Kentucky because he knew it would never float.
Maybe God saw that Kentucky was run by gullible buffoons who would buy his snake oil.

Can you show this? Who are they? Are they qualified in a relevant field? What are these traces they claim indicate a worldwide flood?

Andrew Snelling, PH.D. (one of your countrymen)

Also, Dr. Kurt wise

Just a couple of scientists (found in less than 5 minutes searching, so you can find a lot of material to research if you want) that don’t conform exactly to conventional mainstream scientific thinking in regard to the world-wide flood. Of course, they have connections to Christian organizations, but where else would you expect them to align? You can call them quacks, you can say 90% of scientists disagree (I’m sure they’re used to being trashed), but my point was there are scientists, qualified, who do not hold your view regarding a world-wide flood.

Not news to us. We are familiar with them and their work.

Oops! My bad, myst!

I meant to ask: Why are they fundamentalists then?

That was a typo on my part.

Even with the Author living inside of you?
Correct. He is well aware that the divine inspiration of scripture is a matter of faith, not of demonstrable objective truth, because that's the way He wants it to be.

Great. So they just had to wait until the late 20th century.
How does this help them in the neolithic?
They didn't need help, Dan.

You do.

You needed to hear a solution to your video in Post 363.

And I'm trying to help.

Wasn't Noah's Ark built in [what is now] New Jersey? an area that was landlocked at the time?

Would He be correct if He told His children not to listen to anyone who says otherwise about the divine authorship of the Bible?

I believe that He said in most explicit terms to preach the Gospel to them. I am not aware that He ever instructed us to preach the literal inerrancy of Genesis.

Yes we can say the Ark is a symbol of Christ. But Jesus took the account as something that REALLY occured.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt 24:36,39

Can we really take from that when he SAID people were eating and drinking giving in marriage etc that well....they weren't really doing this for of course it's a made up story? Jesus didn't seem to think so. And if the ONLY purpose of talking about the Ark was a symbol.....why the going into such detail as to how dimension wise it was to be built?

510 feet long, 50 feet high, around 85 feet wide as described in Genesis. So what's 510 feet a symbol of and the other measurements too? Actually I think God had it inspired to have the dimensions in the record down so as to CLEARLY point that this wasn't just some fairy tale story. Fairy tale stories don't bother with technical information......they merely would state, NOAH built a big boat.
