All the Congressman was asking is when the numbers will be low enough - what is the goal?

Dr. Fauci just kept repeating the numbers are too high - he never said what the goal is. What are the numbers they are looking for.

Six times and he never answered - why?

Now you know what people in the room were thinking?! That is amazing.

Dr Fauci was clearly not saying that coronavirus wasn't a problem, just that it wasn't a problem for Americans right now. He clearly says, on multiple occasions, that this could change and coronavirus could become a global pandemic and it could be a very serious threat.

If quite a few people refuse to get vaccinated that means that the risk will be with us longer. If everyone gets vaccinated the threat will be much shorter. Are you for enforced vaccinations? That is about the only way that a solid date could be given.

Fauci siad a number of times 60,000 was to high - ok - what is the acceptable rate? 10,000? 30,000?

That is all Jordan wanted from the man who is key for setting standards.

Jesse White for years was the face of Maytag. Did that make him an expert or a mouthpiece? Fauci is a mouthpiece with an old degree and at best could be considered a lobbyist within the White House for decades also, speaking only within the US as a representative for an industry that extends far beyond the border. His own wife, a Bioethicist, would be better to question. Either way, if the industry behind him is playing this by ear, then how can he be expected to give unwavering advice based on the lead he must follow. Why isn't a higher up mouthpiece like Gates who is chin deep actively and financially in all this, being questioned?

Politicians make the policy. IF they are wise, they listen to sound advice.

No... Public places are closed mainly on the government's say so. Government officials who have chosen to follow Dr. Fauci's medical advice.

Those very same officials can choose to stop following his advice at any time.

Doctors are trained not to give patients absolute numbers in their prognoses because no two patients respond to the same disease in the same way.

No oncologist, for example, is going to tell a person with cancer, "I'm afraid you only have ______years to live." Because honestly, who knows?

Rather, they'll keep it general: "The 5-year survival rate for this stage of pancreatic cancer is 13%," and let the patient do the math on their own.

Fauci knows this because:

1: He's a medical doctor, and
2: He's competent.

...which puts him at least one up on Rep. Jordan.

He wants Fauci's "a-ok" to return to normal -- or at the very least, an answer that Jordan can then turn around and blame should the US find itself in a relapse. "He told us it was okay! We trusted him to make the call for us! This is not our fault!"

As for how to earn it, well... I can only tell you how not to earn it: by doing what Jordan did -- try to browbeat one out of Dr. Fauci.

That approach was neither productive nor intelligent -- and to top it off by taking a swipe at Rep. Waters... while she's still sitting right there?

That was just a bonehead move on Jordan's part.
