If implemented, how would you imagine that to be differentiated from the Messianic Judaism forum?

Years ago Ephriamites tried to join the Messianic Movement. They rejected them making them associate members, only See Isaiah 28 -PDF and e-Zine Association of Messianic Congregations - Issue 3.

As a result I've seen many Ephraim cults forming on line. Some think all Christians must keep Hahalacha (Jewish traditions) because they were Christians called to do so. Thus they claim Christian traditions are false. Others see themselves as Israel not Judah, so their antisemitic which is crazy.

Still other are searching, they know they are being called to explore the Hebrew traditions and yet feel they are not welcomed among MJ/ Of these we seen at least one leave the Christian faith for the Jewish faith.

Three three reasons I seen and have been troubled by. I hope by creating a forum they might come and by coming they may find unity again both with their bothers in Christ and perhaps some of their examples also might help MJ accept them as brothers after all.

OK, I understand. I have seen these fringe groups before, anyone involved in the MJ movement will have ran across them. In all honesty our MJ forum is really only active with a couple of members as it is. I would rather see these people be active contributors in that forum and share their beliefs there.

Is there anything in the MJ SOP that would be uncomfortable to an Ephriamite?

Messianic Judaism Forum Statement of Purpose
Welcome to the Messianic Judaism forum! This forum is a gathering place for both Jews and Gentiles who have come to believe in Messiah Yeshua and wish to follow in His footsteps, worshiping the one True G-d in His Spirit, Way, Truth, and Life*

We believe:
  • First and foremost that Yeshua is the promised Messiah to Israel and to the nations.
  • Messianic Judaism is a sect of Judaism that is the fulfillment of the Jewish Scriptures.
  • The books of the Bible (Genesis to Revelation) are ordained by G-d to be His word to us.
  • Messianic Jews and Messianic Gentiles believe the Torah of Moses is the same that Yeshua kept, elucidated, and taught.
  • Yeshua instructed us to ‘Follow Me’, therefore we leave it to each individual to practice Torah (halacha) in a way that he/she believes Yeshua did.
  • Messianic Jews and Messianic Gentiles are equal in Messiah on this forum and are permitted to observe Torah without condemnation.
  • MJs and MGs keep Torah for the love of G-d and to practice sanctified living, not for salvation.
>>>These beliefs must be respected by all posters<<<
Posts against these beliefs, or with the following content, will be actioned by staff.

Non-negotiable points:
  • No anti-missionary/counter-missionary posts or teachings against the New Covenant books or against Yeshua as Messiah**
  • No replacement theology. No posts teaching or debating that the Church/Christians have replaced Israel or the Jewish people.
  • No anti-Torah theology. i.e. No posts accusing or debating that Messianic Jews or Gentiles are under the law, re-erecting the wall of partition, Torah has been made invalid for today, or Messianic Jews or Gentiles should not keep the commandments in Torah that apply to them. It's not permitted to tell members to keep the Universal (Noachide) laws or not to keep Shabbat.
--Additional Guidelines--

Dual Attendance:
Those who share our beliefs but do not attend a Messianic congregation and are in another denomination may post in this forum with the stipulation that they will not teach their Church doctrines here. Please signify this in your signature or title found under your screen name. Please make sure you have read this thread & have agreed to its provisos before posting here.

Literature: While we believe that the Bible is the Word of G-d, we also believe that it can be educational and informative to study other Jewish Literature such as the Mishnah Torah, Talmud etc. We believe, as Yeshua taught, that this does not overrule the Torah, nor is on equal basis with Torah, but it can be used to clarify ambiguous passages in the Bible.

Homosexuality and Same Sex Marriage: may be discussed by MJ members only, however, no promotion of these topics is allowed. Promotion is defined as encouragement of the progress, growth, or acceptance of something including advertising and publicity.

Only concern is that this same group rejected us before. I suspect this might be because of those cults, but as far as I remember our own rejection back in 2003, I do not remember seeing those cults until afterward. Would the Messianic movement accept us now? Could we be openly E'phramites there?

I can't say for sure. The truth is that Messianic Judaism is a really wide reaching name and term. There are a lot of beliefs that fall under that umbrella name. But, if the content of the beliefs and posting falls within the framework stated in the SOP then it should be OK.

There may be some debate and discussion in regards to how the faith and beliefs bear out, but I think that could be healthy for both sides....so long as everyone acts in a Christ like manner.

It would have to be discussed that there are disagreements between both sides, but the underlying beliefs are not that different - so it might be best to put the main issues aside. People that practice Messianic Judaism can have differing beliefs, so long as they treat one another with respect. We don't have to convince one another, we can just explain why we believe what we do.

To be honest, it would be more on the Ephramites to leave some of the ideas unsaid or un-debated as they are the more controversial of the two sides. There are not a lot of people on the forums now that would agree with the core belief that they are the actual descendants of the lost tribes. But then, is that something that really needs to be brought up often? I would think not.

In conclusion, I don't think that there are enough people on the forums right now that it warrants creating a new forum. However, I could easily envision a Safe House thread to start and then a Safe House sub-forum if there is enough interest.

But that is not up to me alone, it would have to be something Administration as a whole agrees to. So, to start, I would advise to post more actively in the MJ forum and see where it goes from there.

Go ahead and make a thread for it and see where it goes. I will post a reply to the thread requesting people not debate the points of Ephramites, but rather you are trying to connect with them here. I don't mind chiming in to do that.
