State capitals around the country were braced for trouble during President Biden's inauguration Wednesday—but crowds of violent pro-Donald Trump demonstrators did not appear. Small numbers of protesters demonstrated in some cities, but they were outnumbered by police and journalists. In Albany, where New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo skipped the inauguration to deal with potential protests, a single demonstrator was seen in front of the Capitol. "There was reportedly one protester," Cuomo said, per CNN. "I just took a look outside, I couldn't find the protester," he added.

From the snippet I saw on our local news channel the protester turnout was fairy light also and only a handful of counter protesters.

"Has Trump lost his appeal now he's just another overweight, grumpy senior retiring in Florida?"

They probably realized the person that told them they were very special and loved them was not going to help them if they got arrested. I think they were also told to hunker down this week with food and not leave their homes because of imminent mass arrests and then public trials/executions at the inauguration (of democrats and everyone they don't like and Lady Gaga). I think a good many (but not all) believed that.

I find it hilarious, the right always likes to talkk about only way to stop a badguy with a gun is a goodguy with a gun, and all these fantasies of saving the US with armed revolts and such. But the second they believe in all the chinese/russian and other such take overs of the government they dissapear.

While on the other hand, if trump had won the election by using the supreme court to steal it or other methods that didn't involve evidence of fraud. You know there would have been a civil war by everyone else, or at least protests country wide, wether there was security or not. We would likely have seen another occupy wallstreet level event.

Kinda shows to me, who actually believes in what they say and will stand up against tyrrany wether real or not.

Have we all noticed that, before the Inaugural, reports of the planning for all 50 state capitols to be beseiged by "armed terrorists" was hot news. Washington DC was even patrolled by 26,000 or so soldiers because the hoards of savages in red hats were certain to attack!

BUT NOW, when next to nothing happened or was even attempted (as every Trump supporter knew would be the case)...the media are very quiet about it.

I'm sure that those who so confidently predicted mass insurrection all across the country have to come up with some alibi or other now. Yours is probably as serviceable as any other. It cannot be taken seriously, but it's something to say.

"Nothing bad happened" does not usually merit the big headlines. Perhaps it was the public warnings coupled with the multitude of arrests of the Capitol rioters that put the dampers on most protest actions. I believe that there was "chatter" that concerned law enforcement and homeland security and that they did what they thought best to publicize countermeasures taken.

That nothing came of it is a good thing! Why would an "alibi" be needed? And who would need an alibi for nothing happening?
