  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually the lamest argument is trying to compare gays to pedophiles. Comparing them to people who have sex with animals is a close second

Well all are intrinsically disordered, but okay? What is the point of this comment?

But it is! Did you make a conscious decision to be heterosexual, or were you just born that way? It’s the same for gay people. Try listening to them.

You don't seem to understand what I'm saying.

Exactly! That’s behaviour and we can all make decisions about our behaviour.

So you do understand what I'm saying? What's your point?

Speak for yourself.
I already have.

Again, as has been pointed out repeatedly, those teachings are about sexual behaviour, not identity.

When did I say otherwise?

Considering that the word seems to have been invented by Paul and is not used elsewhere, it's a matter of significant scholarly debate. At most you could say it applies to people who actually engage in homosexual acts, rather than those who simply have the orientation.

The same applies to heterosexuals, though. You can't say that a heterosexual Christian can never be tempted. The point is resisting the temptation, and seeking forgiveness.
There is difference between tempted and feeding into a temptation

and racists say that their issue with black people is their sinful nature,m in that they defy God try to be the social and moral equals or whites.
Don't a majority of black people disapprove of homosexuality? Have you considered their feelings when comparing their struggle to that of homosexuals?

“Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood. For too long, our nation has tolerated the insidious form of discrimination against this group of Americans, who have worked as hard as any other group, paid their taxes like everyone else, and yet have been denied equal protection under the law. I believe that freedom and justice cannot be parceled out in pieces to suit political convenience. My husband, Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “I have worked too long and hard against segregated public accommodations to end up segregating my moral concern.” Like Martin, I don’t believe you can stand for freedom for one group of people and deny it to others." Have you considered the feeling of black people when you recycle the same bigoted justifications for racism to use to prop up anti-gay discrimination?

Your idealism does not apply to the Church.

The Church is not homophobic it is anti homosexual. And rightly so . It is a sin to be a homosexual. To have desires even if we do not act on them is a sin.

You do realise that heterosexual people also experience ‘desires’, which they may or may not act upon?

saying the word arsenokoitis means homosexual is what is nonsense. There is nothing o support that translation other than current politics
One who desires one of the same sex is a practicing homsexual whether they engage in the act or not.

Liberal Nonsense. Being a homosexual is a sin. Whether one practises the acts or not. Being black is not a sin.

Homophobia - an irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. It includes antipathy, contempt, prejudice, aversion, and hatred of homosexuals

A lot of its members are homophobic
