Have you ever ran across this scripture before?

  • Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

From the start of the chapter it talks about how there is no condemnation for people who are believers. That the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Yeshua, has made us free from the law of sin and death. So the spirit of Life has restored life into us, and it's separated between the flesh. Spirit and flesh are two different things.

It talks about how are flesh is weak, and how the spirit can help us overcome our fleshly thoughts and ways, to have spiritual peace in this earth rather than many sorrows that the world can give us. From greed, pride, lust of the eyes, hatred, sorcery, and these things alike, (Galatians 5:16-26), which all come from the darkness of the world, and now from the light of Christ shined and given to us by God; that which is the spirit which lives in side of us.

So if God be for us, who can be against us?

Is it the devil? No. Is it Satan? No.

The answer is ourselves can be against God. Because of our Flesh and being weak we can be our own enemy of our relationship with God. The Spirit however can help us overcome ourselves, and the world. To be able to have the fruit of the spirit in our lives which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.

What are you thoughts on this?

So if God be for us, who can be against us?

This is funny (well, not funny, but fitting).

I was just contemplating starting a thread on Yah's men.

I believe that a study on what happens when people in the Bible have called a man of Yah something other than.

David came to mind when his wife called him out of his identity. She didn't have any children.

Another one who came to mind was Elijah (could've been Elisha). Some youngsters mocked him and called him baldy (something to that effect) and a bear came and mauled them to death.

There are others I'm sure.

I believe we can even find some examples on the flip side.

When His men were treated according to their identity, those people were blessed!

Good topic brother!

Because of our Flesh and being weak we can be our own enemy of our relationship with God.

I think this is very true. And even in non-spiritual aspects of life, we are often "our own worse enemy." Overcoming our own flaws and destructive behavior is only possible with the help of God.

Of course, this too!

I have been the biggest enemy, calling myself out of my identity for too long.

I would agree but it is also important not to disregard Ephesians 6:12 and satan. Six things Satan wants for your life

And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. What then will we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? For He who spared not the own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, with Him, grant us all things? Who will bring an accusation against the elect of God? God is the One justifying. Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it has been written: "For Your sake we face death all the day; we were regarded as sheep of slaughter."

the answer is no one as in nobody, not even ourselves ....

@Tone, I never heard of Yah men, what is that?

@jacks, I believe so to, are right.

@disciple Clint, I believe the world has it's own higher places that we can't see which cause the darkness of this world (flesh), against spiritual wickedness in high places (maybe untrue things about the gospel looking to trip us up and falter)?

And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. What then will we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? This is confirmed in the passage you mentioned -

38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This clearly includes you !!!

No one, no thing, no circumstance, no entity, no power, no principality can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus.

John 10:28
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

hope this helps !!!

Yes that may be so Carl, though we sometimes can have an experience that might lead ourselves into stumbling blocks.

Some people believe if they mess up they aren't loved by God though we see that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Maybe I am looking at it all wrong, possibly?

Hey thank you Jesus is YHWH, can no one still be deceived by the world even after coming to Christ Yeshua?

See that "Ye" in your "Yeshua"?

It would be more accurate to say "Yah"...shua, since He came in the Father's Name.

Psalm 68:4
"Sing to God! Sing praises to his name! Extol him who rides on the clouds: to Yah, his name! Rejoice before him!"
Yah (40 Occurrences)

Shabbat shalom!

Oh, I see Tone. Thank you. I have just been told that Yeshua was the old hebrew name, so sometimes I use it.

Anyone can be deceived and discernment comes with growth, maturity, experience, knowledge of the truth and some have the gift of the discerning of the spirits.

hope this helps !!!

This does help Jesus is YHWH,

Thought this might be so friend! I haven't sat down and read scriptures in a while but you mentioning this reminds me of at least one scriptures.

I been having struggles in my own flesh, with drugs and inappropriate contentography as of late, of course we all mess up and nothing can separate us from Gods love, which was shared here. (dang thorn in my side for the past 6 years off and on)

There is also the mention in James:

  • James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed. 15 Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Even though we all struggle with things in life, because sometimes our flesh intertwines us to be enticed by things, unless we seek the spirit to overcome; if anything it reminds us of how we should be humble, and show humility towards others in their own struggles, and sorrows in turn encouraging and uplifting them, or giving no advice at all and instead just hearing them out.

  • 1 Corinthians 10:23 : You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.

Though we have the freedom to do anything we want to, not everything is beneficial.

So we are a struggle to ourselves, especially when we are not looking towards God and his ways.

We are the one who can be against ourselves when we are enticed by our own desires!

A struggle we all go through.

So we are a struggle to ourselves, especially when we are not looking towards God and his ways.

We are the one who can be against ourselves when we are enticed by our own desires!

A struggle we all go through.
So the Christian life is one in fellowship with Jesus on a daily basis, hour by hour, minute by minute and sometimes second by second.

When temptation comes our way we have a choice to make. it IS a conscious choice that begins in our minds. I just had this conversation with my son in law who is an associate pastor.

So when there is say a discussion where our spouse, siblings or boss says something to us that might be demeaning or tearing us down we have a choice to make do we bless them or curse them, do we forgive them or retaliate and defend ourselves and escalate the situation ?

The same thing happens with inappropriate content, lust or any ungodly desire. It starts in the mind and you KNOW the second that thought or image comes into your mind to dwell on it or to think about we can make the following choices.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:9-21
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good…

hope this helps !!!
