Do you know of a place where God commands Christians to rest on the seventh day? If you do, by all means provide the Scripture.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. Nope, in the OT the Jews had God's Torah, which pointed to Christ. It was the covenant established with them at Mt. Horeb in Sinai, a covenant which He did not make with the patriarchs, or with any other nation--but to them and to them only. And the point of this covenant, as the Scriptures clearly teach, pointed to and is fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

So no, neither the Old Testament saints nor the Jews today worship the Torah. The only ones I know who seem to worship the tablets of stone are members of fringe sects.

This post is also contentious. Of course you quote scripture to say you are right and other are wrong as has been done for a very long time with many people other than yourself. Are you educated on all the different PoV or simply selective in what you look into?

I am glad we can agree on something.

, in the OT the Jews had God's Torah, which pointed to Christ. It was the covenant established with them at Mt. 1 Cor 5:7 "Christ OUR passover has been sacrificed".

No doubt the OT ceremonies offerings and sacrifices pointed to Christ.

But we still have "do not take God's name in vain" Ex 20:7

And we still have the 5th commandment "as the first commandment with a promise" in that still-valid unit of Ten. Eph 6:1-2

The Bible has truth in it - the protestant reformation was based on a number of key principles ... one of them being "sola scriptura" test of all doctrine and practice. Acts 17:11. "they studied the scriptures daily to SEE IF those things spoken by the Apostle Paul - were so".

Were they being "divisive"?

What should be the basis for our discussion in your POV for having a discussion on doctrine like the TEN commandments and the Sabbath - where all sides do not start off in agreement? Should it be based on something other the scripture?

On what basis would you suggest for having a discussion on doctrine like the TEN commandments and the Sabbath - where all sides do not start off in agreement? Should it be based on something other the scripture?

It is the way you make assertions rather than considering others PoV. What tells you the Reformation is any more True than what the EO believe for instance? Or the MJ, or the catholics? To assume you have "arrived" at the truth without considering other perspectives is contentious. That is why I do not come to discussions here as representing I must be right and other perspectives are wrong. Learning the truth is a journey, not a destination. As I have already pointed out, everyone can quote scripture and say, "See? It says it here so I am right." But that is what people have been doing for millennials.

If you look at the info near my avatar/icon in the post - you will see 33,000 posts on this board. I have discussed topics with people that do agree, people that were neutral and those opposed to my position. I can never benefit by simply posting something that is wrong - having another person point out the error with my view in scripture - and then just ignoring that detail.

It is like riding a bicycle - doing it wrong and falling off a few times. It is not "helpful" to me to keep doing it wrong. I prefer to ride the bike without experiencing those falls over and over again.

So you're saying you believe what man says, over what the Bible says? That quote states the opposite, yet you do not believe in the 10 commandments or that is was written with Gods finger despite it clearly described in detail in the Holy Bible.

Show me where God commands Christians to rest on the seventh day. I'm not asking where God commanded the Jews to rest on the seventh day. I already know this, God commanded the Jews in His Torah to rest on the seventh day. Where does God command this of Christians.

John 14 says that Jesus "is the Way the Truth and the Life" - knowing the "Truth" is not a bad thing. One does not have to have infinite knowledge first - in order to get even one detail right.

That is not a quote from me... you are quoting "you" and asking my why I would believe what you just said. .. why do that?

The reformers "were Catholics". They found that when they compared the doctrines and practices of their church with the Bible that there was a problem. The Bible refuted some of the traditions of the Jews according to Christ in Mark 7:6-13. Everyone agrees.

The Bible also did not support some of the teachings of the Catholic church in the dark ages according to the Catholic reformers that were finding those problems with their own church.

We don't choose to side with the reformers in those cases "because they are prior friends of ours" rather they are all dead now. We take their position on some of those things because we too can see that the Bible does not support a few of the things that were being taught then.

Mark 2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

Man=all. I don't see where He said Sabbath was made for Jews.
