I had not heard of Clarence Larkin, 1850- 1924, but he was big on charts as a means to convey concepts and order to subjects found in the bible. His charts were impressive considering the time which he lived. If he were living today, he might update his charts on the end times, in refinement.

Here is a video showing his charts, which if viewed full screen a person can pause the video to look at his charts. The video has colorized edited versions of Larkin's chart.

Go to my post #30 in this thread for some helpful information - about what chart is where in the video. And download information.

You will find a reference to Clarence Larkin in the video below.

When I sat down with a preacher to discuss the pretrib doctrine he shared one of Larkin's charts with me, instead of using scripture from his Bible.
He then sent me home with two books on prophecy written by Tim LaHaye.

That video was what made me aware of Clarence Larkin. I don't think Pastor Otis has a chart on Daniel like Larkin has. If Pastor Otis has some charts like Larkin, open a thread on his charts, so we can see them.

But isn't that what you do - post videos instead of explaining your position on issues using the scriptures? I would like to seem some charts of the 7 year 70th week by New Covenant theology group.

No chart is needed to explain the 70th week of Daniel.

Based on Matthew 10:5-7, and Romans 1:16, and Galatians 1:14-18, the Gospel was taken "first" to Daniel's people, before Paul took the Gospel to the Gentiles.
This was the 70th week of Daniel during the first century.

However, I cannot find the above in Larkin's charts, and I cannot find it in your charts, although it is based on God's Word.

AHEM!

Gospel was indeed taken to Christ's people, who happen to also Daniel's people. The vision of Daniel 9:24-27 is all about God and His people. Not the Jews only. And no, the 70th week was not limited to the first century.

I have a copy of Dispensational Truth by Clarence Larkin, dated 1918.

I have read it and he does make some good points about Bible prophecy.
However, he is just like every other person who has tried and failed to understand the Prophetic Word.
Daniel 12:9....the Words are to be kept secret until the time of the end.
Obviously CL did not live at the time of the end.

... and a couple of comics from Chick Publications (sigh) and they call it 'theology.'

I appreciate visuals.....and fellow poster, Christian Gedge, has helped us out by making a visual for just that purpose (and I thought we'd discussed it before?).

The 70th week began in 26/27 AD at the baptism of Jesus and ended in 34 AD when the Gospel went out to the Gentiles

Larkin on some of his charts correctly showed the return of Israel to the land. Although he lived 1850-1924. Larkin in many ways did a good job, imo.

To compare, I want to see some charts from covenant and new covenant theology historic sources that have Israel returning to the land. To demonstrate that their theology was correct and their understanding of the end times was correct.

Messiah the Prince refers to Zech. 9: 9 & Luke 19:29 - 44.

`Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! behold your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey. a colt, the foal of a donkey,...` (Zech. 9: 9)

Luke 19: 29 - 44
describes Jesus riding on a colt and the multitude praising God and saying,

`Blessed is the King who come in the name of the Lord!...` (Luke 29: 38)

  • Larkin was the visual artist who created the charts for Dispensationalism.
  • Anderson was the chronologist who made the countdown for Dispensationalism.
  • Schofield devised and added the Bible footnotes for Dispensationalism.
Together with their founder, John Darby, these four popularized Dispensationalism - one of the most man-made, false, and unhelpful theologies to afflict the Church in the last 2 centuries.

It is easy to generalise, however it would be helpful if you discussed the actual notes I posted. Then we could all learn.

Well, they were right about Israel a nation again in the land, and covenant theology and new covenant theology was not.

Ive just been going through the Larkin Youtube. No doubt about his talent. Pity about the theology.

As for Israel being a nation again, there were others who also expected that. The big difference was that they believed, and still do, that the Jews are being positioned for a revival back to Messiah. Dispensationalists however, place Jews in an elite position during the millennium. It is based on race and anti New Testament.

Have you thought about addressing Matthew 10:5-7, and Romans 1:16, and Galatians 1:14-18?

Did Paul say the Gospel was taken "first" to the Jews in Romans 1:16?
When did this occur, and how long did it last?

OK Doug, Im NCT and, like you, find charts helpful. Here is a chart on the 70th week showing how the 'Most Holy' (Daniel 9:24) was progressively anointed over the last 7 years. As you know, Christ and his Church is the temple not made by mans hands, but what not often realised is how it took the full week to confirm.

Messiah was the first to be anointed. Then came the Jewish Pentecost, then the Samaritan, then the Gentile Pentecost. After that the weeks stopped like Daniel said they would.

CG above is your chart, where it can be viewed directly.

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Are human beings, all guilty of sin, "the most Holy"? I don't think so.

Jesus was anointed by the woman in Bethany in preparation for his burial.

Mark 14:
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
