Do you sin?

Yes .... occasionally .... am in the process of being transformed through the work of the Holy Spirit ... and this will continue until my earthly death ... or Jesus returns ... whichever comes first.

The Bible tells us that the spirit lusts against the flesh and the flesh lusts against the spirit. One could say the sinless part of our nature continues to be in opposition to the sinful part of our nature, and vice versa.

Paul himself identified this dilemma, when he cried out: oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of sin, (i.e. this old sin nature). He then gives the amazing answer - I thank God, in Jesus Christ! Praise God that Jesus is the answer to sin.

Because we are born-again and part of the body of Christ, we are identified with Him and covered in His righteousness.. so that the person who has been born of God is protected by the Son of God, Who has given us His life as our ransom price - so that the evil one cannot ultimately harm us .... we will not experience the 2nd death .... we will experience sin in our earthly lives.

Currently we live in the sprit ... but also have to contend with our sinful nature. Jesus helps us with that .... helping us to overcome. When Jesus returns we will be fully transformed into His image and will not have to deal with our sinful nature anymore. AMEN!

There is no such thing as sinful nature in bible.
Flesh doesn't sin. When you have sex, your soul get defiled, not your flesh.
When you sin you sin with your soul and your soul get defiled, not your flesh.
You are the soul. Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Nobody will be more transformed than born being again in his lifetime.
Paul not talked for himself but for the sinners.
Bible is clear: born again doesn't sin anymore and who does sin is from the devil.
As I know and not only me, who is without fault is temple of Holy Spirit.
Jesus said: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Many professing Christians have a fleshly view (or according their weak state in the faith) of what sin is and therefore erroneously come to the conclusion that no person can be sinless even after being born again in Christ. But if we follow the Lord Jesus Christ and sit daily to hear his word out of the scripture we can mature to the point of doing what Christ did and greater works than what he did according to his own words in John 14:12.

@eleos1954, is correct.

@Goodhuman, Paul refers to himself in Romans chapter 7.

Romans 7:
14 So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin.

15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.

16 But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good.

17
So I am not the one doing wrong (talking about the spirit inside of him as a believer is not doing wrong); it is sin living in me that does it.

18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.

19 (talking about the fleshly nature) I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.

20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.

21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.

22 I love God’s law with all my heart.

23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.

24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?

25 Thank God! The answer is in Yeshua Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

Going on to the next chapter of Romans 8: Paul builds us up in learning more about living by the spirit. There are other passages of scripture that explain that the sinful nature and the spirit war against each other just as ele, pointed out.

Romans 7:5 begins with the saying “when we were in the flesh”

Before we came to Christ we couldn’t do the good that we wanted to do.

But in Romans 8 it says that we are no longer in the flesh but in the Spirit.

The issue in Romans 7 regarding doing the evil we don’t want to do no longer exists in the genuine faithful born again believer.

1 John 1:8 is frequently used to refute sin cessation. But if we read the text:

1 John 1:7-8 KJV
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we say we have no sin before being cleansed by the blood of Christ, the truth (Christ) is not in us.

But once we are born of him we can no longer commit sin as it is written:

1 John 3:9 KJV
[9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

You can be perfect (mature) in your faith in establishing a firm belief in the Lord Yeshua who paid the price of sin for all man kind, and having faith makes a person right with God.

We don't sin as a believer by our faith that makes us right with God, because God gives the spirit to us by our faith on his Son Yeshua.

We will however have our flesh with us until it goes down into the grave, and it's corruptible were as your spiritual body is incorruptible.

The spirit and flesh fight amonst each other.

Galatians 5:17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

These are my final concluding thoughts. Thank your for all who participated, have a nice day!

Look at what I said "not sin anymore", I haven't said, not sinned since he is born.

Even after one has accepted Jesus .... they will sin .... will be made aware of it by the Holy Spirit when they do .... and He will help one overcome it .... again we are not made perfect (without sin) in Him until He returns and He gives us a new body and a totally cleansed spirit.

Again ..... are you perfect? Never sin?

Romans 7:5 begins with the saying “when we were in the flesh”

This is not said in reference to verses 14-25.

“Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:4-6‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Verses 14-26 refers to Paul’s current state not his former state. Everything Paul says in referring to now not previously.

“For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:14-25‬ ‭NASB

Jesus said that in the resurrection we shall be as the angels of God in heaven (Matthew 22:30).

And the angels that were in heaven sinned (2 Peter 2:4).

Something to meditate on.

The angels that sinned in heaven were cast out of heaven. The angels that ARE in heaven .... not kicked out .... are without sin.

The angels in heaven had freedom of choice .... and they exercised it .... we have the same .... freedom to choose Jesus or not .... what we choose now (Jesus) will be our decision for eternity .... there is ... will not be anymore temptation to sin in heaven .... because God destroys it.

1st Corinthians 15:26

Berean Study Bible
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

The wages of sin is death .... when death is destroyed .... sin no longer exists ... the two go together.

Until the return of our Lord .... sin & death exist.

Because Jesus died for us He gives us eternal life (no sin, no death) with Him ... but it does not become a complete reality (for eternity) until He returns. We now walk in the spirit of what will .... one day .... become the complete reality for eternity and we become one with Him ... completely transformed into His perfect image.

1 John 3:2
Berean Study Bible
Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.

Galatians 5:16 KJV
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Romans 8:9 KJV
[9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit

The scriptures are clear.

A true born again believer is not in the flesh to be under bondage to do the evil he does not want to do as the unbelievers do.

But many are weak in the faith and continue to reckon themselves as still in the flesh instead of being renewed in the mind by thinking scripturally:

Romans 6:10-12 KJV
[10] For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. [12] Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

With love.

I agree that a person who is walking in the Spirit will not sin but a person can walk in the Spirit one minutes and sin the next. While they were committing the sin they were not currently walking in the Spirit. Surely Paul is not saying to the Galatians who have fallen from grace and been severed from Christ that once they began to walk in the Spirit they would be unable to walk in the flesh.

Amen the scriptures are clear. You only quoted a portion of Romans 8:9 my friend. Let’s examine the rest of the statement together.

“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:9-11‬ ‭NASB‬‬

The word “dwells” is translated from the Greek word oikeō which means to occupy, inhabit, or remain. I Romans 7 Paul makes it clear that even he has conflicting natures between his flesh and the Spirit. Before we received the Spirit we had only one nature which was sinful. Now that we have received the Spirit we have the conviction of sin within us that urges us not to sin and is contradictory to our sinful fleshly nature which we still struggle with.

In Romans 6 Paul also goes on to explain that we are servants of the master of which we serve. Either servants of God resulting in life or servants of sin resulting in death. Notice how he feels the necessity to urge these people not to let sin reign in their body who were once slaves of sin, who became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which they were committed, and having been freed from sin, they became slaves of righteousness.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:12-18‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Obviously the choice still remains for these children of God to either walk in the Spirit or to walk in the flesh but the conflicting natures is still present.
