Bit by bit, you become more like Jesus: evolving into Jesus?

Hi there,

So this is from a simple heart to contextualize. The context, is life in Jesus. Life in Jesus, never runs out (He will be returning, shortly).

The point is this: Evolution says there is no telos, to Evolution. However, this is because a pattern of degeneration, is adopted (the further back in Evolution you go, the more mutations accumulate - affecting your perception of your origins). But if someone who lives more and more, becomes the focus: the telos, by reason of logic (in reverse), becomes easier to identify - if the telos is identified in "Jesus", the survival rate reaches maximum (you literally cannot die).

The question is: is it still "evolving"? Does the progressive change to an unchanging state, exemplify Jesus in a way that it is identifiable, every time? Why would you want to give it a different name, or ignore it, as I imagine some people will want to do? Surely the truth is as much what you can become in Jesus, as it is how you can differ - if you believe in Evolution? It stands to reason, that I could become all-surviving in a number of ways, as opposed to the one in favour of Evolution? I would be many times more evolved?

That's a lot of questions, but I think it stands to reason: that if you have been ignoring Jesus, your focus has been away from how much you can still evolve, if you evolve in His Direction. It's not a trick or a gimmick, Jesus really does show us how to Evolve, regardless of what the Evolution is? He might not make you a monkey, but He might show you how to care for monkeys; He might not make a limb grow back, but He might show you how to get rid of a phantom limb.

In a sense Evolution is, that phantom limb, that unresponsive monkey. You can't escape the inevitable doubt, if you have no faith, but in Jesus, these things can be remedied. I feel like I am saying a lot, but really, I just want you to know that you aren't out of options; you can still start to have faith in Jesus, to do something with your "Evolution".

Fire away.

I think what you're talking about is what we call "progressive sanctification," which has nothing to do with evolution.

We get saved (initial sanctification), then if we walk in the Spirit, we become more and more Christlike (progressive sanctification), until He comes back and gives us white robes and such (complete sanctification).

So Evolution, is not "Sanctified Evolution"?

4WD off-roading, is not competitive 4WD off-roading? Mountain climbing, is not mountain climbing of the highest mountain?

I think you are making constructive criticism, of something that is unstated, actually. I would prefer that it was "stated".

What exactly is it, that we progress in, if we want to make progress through? Do scriptures outdo one another, until there is only one that needs to be repeated - I say "no"?

I'm going to have to sort of agree with AV on this one. You can't 'evolve' into Jesus, even with Gottservant's strange and bizarre view on evolution.

Jesus was the son of God. You can't just become the son of God by evolving. You would need to be born as the son of God to be the Son of God.
And I don't really think God does foster care.

Unity of the faith.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

So Evolution, is not "Sanctified Evolution"?
Evolution has nothing to do with the existence of God or our salvation in Christ. Evolution is only about how our mere bodies came to be formed. Like all other scientific theories, it neither affirms nor denies divine creation.
