It appears that the sun has gone on holiday and given way to rain and cloud.
We had the rain yesterday, lots and lots of it! And windy Squalls all night. Today is fine with clouds and sun 16c and still a little windy. :)

Daytime high temperatures in excess of 30 degrees Celsius, with humidex values in the high thirties to low forties, are expected for this week. Overnight lows near 20 degrees Celsius are also expected through this period, providing little relief from the heat. A slightly cooler airmass may move into the area this weekend, however there is considerable uncertainty.

I would like to send you our sun. Today is another cloudless, hot (about 35 degrees C.) day here.
Thank you that would be nice especially for my wife who loves the sun I tend to cook. But you don't move to Orkney for the weather, it's more for the beauty and serenity(most of the time!).
Weather improved today, no rain:amen:.

9 degrees C/49 degrees F, soft breeze from NW and light rain, so typical Norway in July.
However, not very far away (easily driven within the day) -2.5 degrees C/28 degrees F and 35 cms/1 1/3' fresh snow. Summer skiing, anyone? https://gfx.nrk.no/JIFsonfx-A9VtRUlHqyvswenMGYNnuJ4J_CfgZUpo8Yw.jpg
Wow, that's cold. What is the highest summer temperature in Norway HisCrossMyPeace? :)

It is still cool in our part of the UK; I had my coat on when outside this evening but I think we are due a warmer weekend.

The high temperature at Griffiss AFB in Upstate New York was at least 94 F (34C) on June 9. I believe that we have had nine days so far this year with temperatures in the 90's which is unprecedented in this area for so early in the year. Buffalo NY was 98F (37C) yesterday. It will likely be in the 90's again today. Conditions are also very dry. Tropical Storm Fay is moving up the Atlantic coast and may be downgraded to a depression by the time it's effects are felt in this area tonight. A cold front will also follow from the west bringing a few days of needed rain.

A period of hot weather continues today into tonight. Cooler temperatures are forecast for the weekend.
Daytime high temperatures today in excess of 30 degrees Celsius, with humidex values in the high thirties to low forties are expected. Overnight lows tonight will remain near 20 degrees Celsius. However, a cooler airmass moves into the area for Saturday and Sunday with daytime highs remaining below 30 degrees.

Yes, rebornfree, this summer has so far been below average.

Highest summer temperature recordet at single day is for Norway total 35.0 degrees C/95.0 degrees F. (Aug 6, 1975) For the coastal area (less than 200 kms/125 miles from shore) highest summer temperature recorded is 32.6 degrees C/90.7 degrees F. (Aug 11, 1975 and July 1, 1945) Highest average summer temperature measured for a month (July) is 18.3 degrees C/65 degrees F (1901), typical is 13-15 degrees C/55-59 degrees F. Highest number for measured tropical days (highest recorded temperature 30.0 degree C/86 degrees F or more) in July is 10 (1889)/6 (1975). Anyone understanding why figs, grapes and orange trees isn’t very fond of Norwegian summers?

And just for mentioning it: Deepest recorded snow in populated area is for July 1.90 meters or 6 1/4 feet. July 1, 1962. and about 200 kms E of Bergen. (And at April 1 deepest snow was 4.20 meters/14 feet, not surpricingly same area.)

I enjoy reading the weather reports from Norway and the UK as world climate is a long time hobby of mine.

The US Southwest is experiencing a heat wave with some desert areas expected to top out around 120F (49C) today.

In our area of Upstate New York Tropical Storm Fay brushed our area with some light rain. Some areas received considerable amounts of rain along the Atlantic Coast.

The temperature on July 11 at Death Valley California was 124F (51C). The Southwestern US is experiencing a heatwave.

Conditions here in Upstate New York have improved. We have received some much needed rain from a cold front. Temperatures are cooler. We have had 11 days so far in the 90's according to my reckoning.

Norway (local where we live) today at noon: 13.5/57 degrees C/F, very light showers, wind SW-W and 14-15 knots.

The Norwegian summer termometer:
Below 10/50 degrees C/F Nice spring, not summer quite yet.
10-14,9/50-59 degrees C/F Summer is arriving
15-19,9/59-68 degrees C/F Summer
20-24,9/68-77 degress C/F Really summer, straightforward hot
25-29,9/77-86 degrees C/F Heatwave, much more summer than healthy!
30-34,9/86-95 degrees C/F Breakdown and knock-out, anyone actually doing anything? .
35+/95+ degrees C/F Never recorded .

I understand the name of DEATH Valley...

Do you think it would be possible having five of those degrees (C) exported for Norway? If so, please wrap and pack for Metrological Instutute, department West, NO-5000 BERGEN, Norway.
