Broader look:

The record-setting heat wave that swept through Arctic Siberia in June has yielded a wide-range of deleterious effects in the expansive polar and sub-polar region, triggering raging wildfires, thawing permafrost, and now, spurring the rapid melt-out of Arctic sea ice.

Last month, Siberian temperatures spiked, reaching a record average more than 5 degrees Celsius (9 degrees Fahrenheit) hotter than normal, according to recently released data from the European Union. The remote town of Verkhoyansk in northeast Siberia recorded a reading of more than 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) on June 17, the highest temperature ever recorded north of the Arctic Circle.

Under this metaphorical blow torch, ice extent in the seas that border Siberia has plummeted in recent days, pushing the Arctic region as a whole into the record books. Between July 2 and July 7, sea ice extent across the Arctic Ocean went from being at its fifth lowest extent for this time of year since satellite record-keeping began in 1979, melting into first place, slightly below even the calamitous year of 2012 which eventually saw sea ice hit a record low at the end of the summer melt season in September.

I used to argue against AGW quite a few years ago, but kept finding all of the best evidence on the other side. It was a graph of the Arctic Ice Death Spiral that finally sealed the deal for me. That was chart of the volume of Arctic sea ice rather than surface area. Since it is an annual chart this year's is not ready yet:

That and Lord Mockton, who used the same debating techniques that creationists use made me see the error of my ways. If AGW was fake why use dishonest debating techniques against it?

Yah, been watching that one, after @ZNP posted about the record 100F day in a Siberian town, and the fires. You can see the graph updated daily at the main site from the NSIDC, so I've checked on it a couple of times a week. Good summary.

I can see the satellite images.
You are only seeing the images they allow you to see. You may see a image of a region in Antarctica the that shows a reduction of ice, but you are not shown the images of regions that have a increase of ice.
We are only fed things that support the globalist agenda and the truth is not in it.

In actual fact daily images of ice cover are available online from all over the world. I regularly check the "Canadian Ice Service" which shows updates on a day to day basis. Here an overview of Artic ice in Canadian waters today. Detailed maps and images for navigational purposes are available on the same site. You have fallen for a conspiracy theory.

As you can readily see there is a little more ice than usual to the north of Alaska but the North West Passage is opening nicely and should be navigable by non ice strengthened vessels by late this month. The situation to the north of Russia is quite different. The ice has melted back an incredible distance and their passage is wide open right now.

You have fallen for a conspiracy theory.
So grapes were grown in Great Britain a thousand years ago, Viking settlements have been thawing out in Greenland for some time now.
I do not deny that the Earth's climate has changed from warm to cold and back again since the beginning. These climate changes are not CO2 driven, but the climate change does effect CO2 levels.
I do think that the essential gas CO2 is being used for political gain.

And I believe that you are dead wrong. The Vikings settled Iceland and Greenland and even a brief settlement in Newfoundland during an early Medieval warm period caused by a major shift of ocean currents in the North Atlantic. When the currents returned to normal the Newfoundland and Greenland settlements become extinct. During the cold period the Vatican appointed a bishop to Iceland. He spent the rest of his life waiting passage because for 60 years no ship could make the passage in either direction.

Well this is good news, we can agree there have been major climate swings in the past that has nothing to do with us causing it :)

Of course it is - everything that affects populations and economies, or that people are concerned about, is used for political gain. Sadly, that doesn't negate the exhaustive and conclusive science that tells us it's causing a serious problem.

Indeed - many global extinction events were caused by climate changes caused by volcanic activity pumping greenhouse gases into the air. This time, it's us.

The medieval cold climate change that I mentioned in post #15 was confined to the North Atlantic and was not world wide. Since the study of climate change began various natural cycles have been discovered. These "Malenkovich Cycles" combine in quite complex ways to give rise to warming and cooling cycles. What we are witnessing today extends far beyond anything seen before especially in terms of the rapidity and the acceleration of the warming. CO2 initiated warming is extremely closely linked to this present warming. The vast majority of scientists in this field are convinced that this global warming trend is anthropogenic in nature.
