As I grow older I sin less but,
my sin bothers me more.

We know that we should eliminate it
but, as Paul stated
it is a battle at times
doing what I shouldn't do
not doing what I should do.

So basically im at a loss right now ive heard that if i keep sinning im not saved even if its not willful sinning. And ive heard that it doesn't matter if i willfully sin or not your still saved. Ive also heard that if its my own will to stop sinning, that means its not the holy spirit helping me which makes me someone who is basing Salvation on just my works not Jesus death and resurrection on the cross. Can anyone help explain because in the bible some verses make it seem like without works we aren't saved but that you dont need to have any works and your saved. Im just confused and need some guidance with this. Thank you all God bless.
Do you believe in Jesus? Really, really, really believe that He exists and is who He says He is?

Everyone who believes shall be saved.

I tell you though, to believe in Him is not easy. You will have to seek Him to find Him.
If you really do seek Him, you will definitely find Him and be possibly sure of your election.
This is a proces though. The Bible is clear, and demands you work for it. (Not works salvation, but make an effort to find the narrow gate, strive for it, for many will try to enter, and shall not be able).

for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
2 Corinthians 13:5

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Luke 11:13

If you diligently seek Him, I'm positive that you will definitely find and will be rewarded with great faith and certainty about your salvation. Good luck. It took myself about 10 days from the moment I started to seek diligently to get saved. It was a great time. I hope you will experience the same.

One can be forgiven if they confess of their sins (1 John 1:9) (cf 1 John 2:1, Proverbs 28:13, Psalms 51, Luke 15:17-21, Luke 18:9-14, Hebrews 4:16). But confession of sin is done with the intention that one will forsake their sin and not have any intention to ever sin again. Many think it is impossible to stop committing grievous sin. So then if this is the case, then confession of sin is just a mere paying of lip service with no real intention to change. It doesn't mean anything then. That would be like a husband who cheats on his wife who says he is sorry to her for cheating on her, but he really has no intention of stopping or in thinking that he can stop. If that is the case, he is not really sorry. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says Godly sorrow leads to repentance. We have to have a godly sorrow over our sin and truly be broken before God about it. Most treat sin as if it was no more dangerous than a fluffy kitten.
EDIT: I Responded to the wrong message

While I am sure you can split hairs and say that that all willful sin is willful because it involves one's will, when we look at the Bible, we learn that “willful sin” is any sin you intentionally set out to do that day or the next day, etc.; “Unintentional sin” is that you did not actually plan to do anything wrong that day; but temptation came your way (without you wanting it, and yet you stumbled into sin).

Anyways, not sure what you are driving at, but it says that if we willfully sin, there remains no more sacrifice for sin. This means that if there is no more sacrifice for sin, then a person cannot be saved because without a sacrifice, there is no atonement; And thus, no salvation.
So if I was to slip up one time and willfully sin like plan to go and do something that was for sure a sin your toast its over ? Lost salvation right there cant ever get it back ? What if you didn't know it was a sin at the time what you where planning to do?

Why ask these guys for advice? They have mental whips on their lips. They want you to suffer and to feel remorse and guilt.... Please! Pray to God to find a good teacher!

Again I would suggest, if you haven't already, study the three tenses of salvation. It's elementary.

The Greek states that we have been saved in a point of time, and continues on forever. These folks who hit others over the head with English translations are not getting a witness from the Holy Spirit. The Greek language was chosen by God for good reason.

And, in English, they must act like a corrupt lawyer to get around this one.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-30

Some here are thumbing their nose at the Lord of Creation. Calling Him a liar.

Question(s): So if I was to slip up one time and willfully sin like plan to go and do something that was for sure a sin your toast its over ? Lost salvation right there cant ever get it back ?

Answer:

Well, it depends on the seriousness of the sin. There are some sins that are unforgivable (like: A believer speaking bad words against the Spirit, a person committing suicide and staying dead, etc). There are other sins that caused angered God greatly and caused immediate death (like with Ananias and Sapphira).

As for grievous sins (or sins that lead to spiritual death) like: Murder, theft, adultery, lying, hate, idolatry, coveting, etc.; Can you never get salvation back if you commit these sins? No. But you do abide in spiritual death if you commit them, and if you refuse to seek forgiveness with the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28-30 that we are in danger of hellfire if we look upon a woman in lust. This does not mean we are condemned for all eternity. This means we are in danger, and we need to head in the other direction. For example: If you see a shark fin in the water, this means “danger” for you, and you most likely will want to swim into shore as fast as you can.

In other words, if you seek forgiveness over your sin with the Lord Jesus Christ you can be forgiven (1 John 2:1) (1 John 1:9) (Luke 15:17-21) (Luke 18:9-14) (Hebrews 4:16) (Proverbs 28:13) (Psalms 51). But we have to not intend to sin again as if it was a matter of fact or if it was something that we cannot help to do. For if there is no change in our life for the better, then we are just paying empty lip service to God and it does not mean anything. It would be like a husband who cheats on his wife and says he is sorry to her and yet he has no intention of ever stopping. Is the husband really sorry?

Most Christians today falsesly believe that they will always commit some kind of grievous sin the rest of their lives. This then leads them to falsely hold to the false belief of a “Sin and Still Be Saved Type Belief.” Meaning: They can live in sin on some level and still be saved all because they have a belief alone on Jesus. But it doesn't work like that. We have to strive to live holy by God's power and not our own power. We ask God for help. For without the Lord we can do nothing. Salvation is 100% in the Lord, but we have to do our part to desire Him to move within our life. We have to call upon God and beg and plead with Him and desire His good ways more than anything else in this life. For without holiness, no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). I believe this life of holiness (or living holy) is different for every true and faithful believer. Some may progress to living holy faster than others, and others may take more time. God is long suffering towards us and He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

Not only is it what the bible says....it is exactly what the bible says.

 Hello Bible! Nice to meet you!

Remember, you replied to and argued against my post which was a direct quote from the bible.....with no added interpretations or commentary....Only added quotation marks.

My quote indicated what you implied with what you quoted, could not be so. It revealed you do not have a correct interpretation... unless you can show me a passage where it says God contradicts himself and lies.

The one whom you are fighting and arguing with, is the Lord.... And he doesn't lose at chess or checkers.

And, you lost the point.

Whats sad is this went all over the place. So what you get is what each person believes.

Heb 6 and 10 .. theres so much to those verses as in context. We all get tempted.. we all willingly sin from time to time and get stuck in some kind of sin.

Since no one on this planet gets to say who is and who is not saved.. He is the only one that gets to write in His books. No here gets to speak for GOD! And then what... who are we to listen to? Which GROUP do you believe? Which Christian group has the REAL truth?

No one here can save anyone. All we read is what each personally believes. And whos TRUTH does God hold man accountable to? How in the world are you do know? So .. you don't listen to man.

You read that book.. JESUS IS REAL! See what HE started in you He will finish. Ask HIM can you sin all you want or not? And when He talks.. HE will show you whats written in HIS book. Because we don't answer to man but to HIM and HIM alone. We all work out our own salvation. My lol salvation is not based on what anyone believes here. Its what HIS word says. JESUS IS REAL! From your heart.. ask Him.. and.. He will show you..

Although I was a part of the arguments a bit I think this is a very serious issue. If people weren't arguing I'd be worried. I hope your reading reveals the truth to you

Read the Gospel for yourself, and don’t get swept away by other people’s teaching. Ask God to show you what Salvation means and He will show you in His Word. I’ve asked God many questions regarding His way and teachings I don’t understand - and He answered. Seek His face (Gospel) for this wisdom.

I also got severely swept up in people’s doctrines instead of investigating the Truth for myself and I got absolutely no where. Just a bunch of confusion and that is not from God. It wasn’t until later on in my life that after I fully surrendered my life to Jesus Christ (I thought I had before but I hadn’t. I had one foot in the world while the other was in His world. We need to be rooted fully in Him so we are lead by His Spirit), that He made known to me His wisdom in His Word. :yellowheart:

Hi, Glad I could introduce you to the Word. If you have time, I would encourage you to read it. For within it contains instructions that, if followed, and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.....not leaving a spot nor wrinkle.... After, you will no long feel that you are a slave to sin.

My quote indicated what you implied with what you quoted, could not be so. It revealed you do not have a correct interpretation... unless you can show me a passage where it says God contradicts himself and lies.
Hello, mind reader. Is this a gift given by God or is it something that you can teach others to do. For I, too, desire to read a verse, look at a name, and automatically know how they interpret that verse.

For you claim to know my interpretation without me having ever spoke it.

And, you lost the point.

Again, It is not I you believe lost....but the one whose words I quoted.....

Like Adam and Eve? They weren't intentionally going to disobey and eat fron the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. Eve got tempted, Adam, too, and because they weren't willfully sinning....wait...I don't remember them getting a pass, even when they threw someone else under the bus.

Many good insights are presented in these posts, but nobody has mentioned clinical depression yet. When one's health fails and his money all gone; depression becomes common among believers and will cause you to make some very bad choices. Even with those choices, God's hand is not shortened, Stay prayed up, change is coming.
