I want Trump supporters to stop trying to tear it all down and turn America into a crypto-religious isolationist backwater.

Trump supporters have the same rights to shape this country as do non Trump supporters.

In America, you acknowledge we already have all the "good" things you listed.

So, pray tell, why are you so unhappy with America? and what more do you want?

I would think anyone living in the US has ideas about what can be improved. I don't know anyone, no matter which way they vote, who thinks it's perfect.

Crypto-religious isolationist backwater? Ok. I can agree with you that religious zealots have gone too far in forcing their religion down people's throats on certain issues. That is my pet peeve with the religious right.

But from what I can see, it is not only Trump supporters who are trying to tear America down. Have you been asleep in the past 3 months?

Huh? Were you not paying attention to all the pandemic politics from just a couple months ago?

There were plenty of protests against protective pandemic measures. Such protesters even engaged in things like arming themselves to enter government buildings.

This was very much a "culture war". Though it appears that some people's memories of these events are now hazy.

(In other news, the Christian right in the U.S. has long waged culture wars and those tend to be dominated by Republicans. If you think Republicans are immune to fueling culture wars, then you're oblivious to your own country's politics and cultural climate.)

Correct, anything can be improved on.

But not acknowledging that something as it is is also <Staff Edit> good as it is, though it could be improved upon, just creates a climate of constant bitterness, anger, strife, and perpetuates a pathlogical never ending search for a perfection that does not exist. Whatever happened to gratitude?

I am grateful for this country and what it offers. Last time I checked, millions of people are still clamoring to come in and be part of it.

A. it moves the discussion away from his own abysmal failures.
B. its the only thing that seems to get him personally excited.

When people immigrate to America, it's not necessarily because America is the "best". In some cases, it's simply a better option than where they are living.

There are no metrics by which the U.S. is considered the "best" as a country.
