It's a sad commentary on the state of American democracy when the military has to stand up for our Constitutional rights...

Well, it's in the oath they took...

Interesting role models you've got there... you don't have to hold him in esteem because someone else didn't.

I have no clue as to what you are referring to - I'm not speaking of myself and have not in any post in this thread.

Truth be told the people who denigrated the General when he was a Trump ally and now consider him esteemed are the interesting role models. Whose followers are quick to support anything they say because it makes the narrative against the President follow their continuing line of partisan propaganda. What other choice do the faith followers have?

Then there's very little to speak of.

Truth be told the people who denigrated the General when he was a Trump ally

They didn't care much for Mad Dog's policy decisions and feared the consequences... quite vocally.

Last I heard, that was still legal.

and now consider him esteemed are the interesting role models.

One doesn't forget his years of service to the country... unless it turns against Donald.

Then none of it matters.

Whose followers are quick to support anything they say because it makes the narrative against the President follow their continuing line of partisan propaganda. What other choice do the faith followers have?

Now I have no clue what you're referring to...

James who? He didn’t have a problem when he accepted his appointment. I wonder if he is trying to come up with a plausible defense to spare himself a lengthy sentence if there are ever any future “Nuremberg” type trials in the future.

After he let wounded men die in Afghanistan, I have never had any respect for the person.

What I find funny is that, if Mattis supported Trump's actions, there would be at least five topics on this board alone propping him up. You guys love it when anyone in the military gives Trump even an ounce of praise, but when someone goes against him? Oh, he doesn't matter, who cares, et cetera...

Yep....written off as a “disgruntled former employee”...

I think you have hit on a truth. The media repeats things over and over and people believe them.

Case in Point - The narrative about Charlottesville where the media - to this day - states the President said there were good people on both sides. They have repeated it enough time, their followers just regurgitate it as truth.

They never quote the following sentence of the President where he very clearly state "I'm not talking about the white nationalist." The conveniently leave that out.

It would not surprise me that there are a number even here that do not know of that sentence. It's easily found

Because Trump talks about the military getting involved. So what? As Graham said they've been used before for these things with other Presidents. It's not that Mattis doesn't see things but as Graham encouraged him he needs to consider everything.
Okay, so if Mattis supported Trump's words and Senator Schumer suggested that he might have it wrong, would you support Senator Schumer's position, or call him a partisan hack?
