We are body, soul and spirit. The brain thinking and pondering is a hindrance, the flesh wanting to go its own way is also a hindrance. God knows everything perfectly but we do not and no one does. It is not a repeatable science like gravity, it is spiritual. Anyone who says they fully understand everything of God and everything in the scriptures is fooling themselves. But just because our brain or flesh limit us does not mean we should not strive to learn. Our spirits can connect to God and the Holy Spirit can guide us so long as we let him. Like when Jesus called to Peter to walk on the water.
Matthew 14
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Peter's mind started to think outside of Jesus, his body felt the storm and he got scared and immediately his connection dropped and so he started to sink, even while he was right there with Jesus.
This is why Jesus warned us to watch out for false teachers because he knows that we are weak, that humans can be easily mislead.
Acts 20:28-3028
29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
This is why we have the Bible so that we can spot incorrect teaching.
