  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wait so is this guy saying OSAS is true or false? I was looking into the concept a bit and it doesn't really make much sense considering someone could come to Christ and then be lead astray and reject God later in life including during judgement.

You mean they believe we're able to reject God when we can clearly see Him in His presence during Judgement Day? That's terrifying...

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible, i'm not saying the majority of people would do this, but some people are extremely stubborn, and some people are slaves to the devil. I wouldn't be surprised if there would be an agenda pushed to convince God was some hostile force and it would be in your interest to reject him.

I have had conversations like that from Christians:
"Well, the road is narrow and few enter. God killed everyone except Noah's family, so you should fear God doesn't just snuff you out"

"The only reason we exist is to glorify him."

Basically, God expects you to love him, and if you don't, he will kill you then send you to eternal torture. If you do, you have to spend eternity stroking his fragile ego.

Who would want to worship a God that is the equivalent of a parent having a baby so someone tells them "Love you, mommy! You are the best mommy in the world." And if the child doesn't love the mom, the child is tortured.

That is not the God I serve.

Yeah, and also God didn't damn everyone who he killed to hell, there are many times God killed innocent people for the greater good. The Earth was a lost cause, more corrupt, sadistic, and evil than even Sodom and Gomorrah and sometimes hitting a reset button is the best option. He didn't kill everyone for an unjust reason. I'm sure the genuinely innocent people had/will have a chance to have eternal life.

I don't get why people would believe that just because you have found God once tho means you're guranteed eternal life, that doesn't make any sense. Like what if I find God, i'm a good Christian, I believe in everything with all my heart and then one day I get tempted to do evil deeds for another "god", maybe a more demonic one for my own reasoning or whatever, sure that's a bit of an extreme example but this stuff does happen, and if you just take a look at some of the more "secular" communities there are many people who say that even if they die and are asked to repent for their sins they wont do so even if it allows them to get into heaven.

You know those websites and videos that expose things they think are bad? It looks like we're under attack. Out of curiosity, I saw this website exposing many Christian forum sites, including this site we use, because I wanted to check if any other Christians think this site is evil since they tend to claim that of a lot of things (and I think that's how I got my anxiety problem!) are bad. This is the site that "exposes" us. So-Called Christian Forums

What a pile of dog poo!

Honestly, it looks like the only forum the author would like is the one where everyone agrees with him. Which is obviously not going to be forum at all but 'Troy says'.

I commend whoever runs this forum (even if it is a majority Roman Catholic) for the freedom it gives for people to express and discuss their ideas. That is what a forum should do. We might not always like what we see... but we do have the option of going to another thread or even another site.

For some of us who, particularly at this moment, this is the lifeblood for expressing ideas about our faith and seeing it working out.

Is there evil here? Of course there is, but let's face it if you don't want to deal with evil, you need to avoid the world in all its forms - so get off the internet!

There has been many owners. And of the four of us who oversee the site, only one is Catholic.
Heck, I remember this place when it was a BB.

I don't want to sound stupid, but who is Troy?
Troy Brooks, who was kind of an infestation here for a while. Has a unique eschatological vew that he believes must be accepted as true if one is to be saved. (Which makes his soteriology a bit weird, too). Believes that New Jerusalem will be on Mars, and that there will be multiple "raptures according to readiness". Used to maintain several sock-puppets at a time here, that he used to act as his own cheering section, and who he'd switch to when he get locked out, which was often. Soem of the socks were female and poor Troy often got tangled in his feet by forgetting what gender he was supposed to be. I fear he and I will never be friends.

Christians have been under attack for two millennia. The site means nothing. At least they aren't nailing us to a cross or stoning us.

Yeah... Not all of us are Catholic here. I ain't. Many different types of Christians use this site, but if it was founded by Catholics I don't know.

Exactly and I don't care. It is a forum for the free exchange of ideas and beliefs as they relate to God. How is that wrong. We can disagree and that is fine as we search for the truth. In some cases we are more agreed than disagreed. In some cases there are few areas of agreement. However, we can discuss them respectfully and with grace. From where I sit there is nothing wrong with that.
