  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How many here are like me and are antsy to get back to church in person? Anybody here have their services in person? If so, how do you do this with the guidelines? And if you are worshipping in person, have you noticed an increase in Covid cases?

I am excited to.

No, they are not doing live services, but one can come to church on Sunday mornings to pray. Keep 10 feet apart at all times.

Cases are decreasing in my area, we are starting to reopen things, thankfully. The Bishop advises to refrain from live services until mid June.

Our city and county are reducing restrictions May 18. Don’t know about church. I don’t know how the church could open because of the social distancing, unless they remove many chairs and limit the number of people in. I would think that would cause a problem, assuming lots of people line up to get in the doors, then some are turned away.

Yesterday, Cinco De Mayo, our closest Mexican restaurant had cars lined up in a long line for curb service. I read that some people didn’t want to wait and were yelling at the restaurant employees. Others really got mad when, after waiting in line, they were told they were out of food and got turned away.

Churches here can still gather with 10 or less people and 6ft apart. It is likely they are going to change the size limit to gatherings to 50 in the next week or so. Our services usually have between 75-200 people....the sanctuary can sit around 500 full, so if they space out the distance should be maintainable. That said, they are not going to go live until our Bishop recommends it, which should be mid June.

I’m antsy but part of me is scared to go back when they reopen. I don’t want to catch anything.
