That is repentance. Once he sets his mind on the Spirit he can do what pleases God. He has turned away from the flesh (sin) and turned towards The Spirit (God) How does it not get any more clear than this?
Okay, does getting one’s mind on the Spirit please God?

There would be zero freedom if God didn't even allow the possibility of a sinful thought. No one naturally loves bondage.

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Do you command your children to do things they can't do? Do you command them to do something and then make it impossible for them to do otherwise?
You are still avoiding the question. Why, if God wants us to not sin, did He not intervene? How would His intervention make slaves out of Adam and Eve?

Sin was impossible to avoid with us having free will, but without free will it would be impossible for us to love God.

Good Day, BNR32FAN

Gen 20:6 Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that you have done this in the integrity of your heart, and it was I who kept you from sinning against me. Therefore I did not let you touch her.

So did Abimelech have free will at that moment?
Was it possible for him to sin against God, even though God was "keeping that from him?"?

No in that situation, since he was unaware that Sarah was married, God intervened and he was unable to sin with her.

Do you know someone whom God does not allow to sin ever?

I already told you. You are just pretending not to understand.
If I controlled every thought coming in and going out of your mind, would it be possible for you to truly love me, or truly have any feelings of any kind? All would be illusions, because the reality would only be you as a machine I operated.

I agree so then he was not free to choose otherwise, and thus his will was not "free".

Right?

Yeah we set our mind on the Spirit. AKA repentance.
Setting our mind on the Spirit would be pleasing to God. Can’t do that in the flesh.

Where did I say anything about controlling thought? I didn’t. I’m sure God can intervene without thought control.

Here’s my original post

Here’s the definition of metanoia I provided

Repent (Metanoia)
1) to change one's mind, i.e. to repent
2) to change one's mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins"Repentance (metanoia, 'change of mind') involves a turning with contrition from sin to God; the repentant sinner is in the proper condition to accept the divine forgiveness.

I don’t see a difference in the way I used the word.

This is so twisted. I can quote a multitude of verses saying that belief and repentance comes first, then the new birth.

God grants repentance (Acts 11:18).

Let us obtain the definition of "repent" from Strong's Greek: 3340. μετανοέω (metanoeó) -- to change one's mind or purpose (biblehub.com/greek/3340.htm containing Strongs and HELPS Word Studies)

Repent: think differently afterwards

metanoé? (from 3326 /metá, "changed after being with" and 3539 /noié?, "think") ? properly, "think differently after," "after a change of mind"; to repent (literally, "think differently afterwards") (def from 3340. metanoeó HELPS Word-studies section).

Unbelievers do not change their minds to choose toward Jesus (John 15:16), rather Jesus commands to think differently afterwards: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 4:17)

The word "repent" does not mean "I free-will change my mind" as asserted by too many people. Try reciting the words of Jesus, where He is commanding the people in Matthew 4:17, except, first, replace the word "repent" with "I change my mind", then, second, replace the word "repent" with "think differently afterwards". God does not change (Malachi 3:6), so this One True God Jesus commands repent.

Considering the relationship between the "mind" and "thinking", we believers are born from above (John 3:3), in like manner given the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

Mind of Christ. See "mind".

Now, on to "thinking" which is contained in "repent".

The Greek word metanoeó is the English word "repent" in Matthew 4:17. Godly sorrow brings "thinking differently afterward" leading to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10, so God's power generates this sorrow within the believers hence God calls it "Godly sorrow" thus illuminating and magnifying sin (Romans 5:20).

No place in scripture is it recorded that man grants himself repentance; on the other hand, in scripture it is recorded that God grants repentance (Acts 11:18).

How would God stepping in and stopping the serpent equate to a computer carrying out a command? Unless you are saying God is the computer.

“he arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death, and are to glorify him by their destruction.”

Calvin’s Institutes, Book 3 Chapter 23 paragraph 6.

Assuming that the doctrine of Open Theism is false (which we must do in this forum), is this a true or false statement, and why?

From the Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord,

"Therefore, if we wish to consider our eternal election to salvation with profit, we must in every way hold sturdily and firmly to this, that, as the preaching of repentance, so also the promise of the Gospel is universalis (universal), that is, it pertains to all men, Luke 24:47. For this reason Christ has commanded that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations. For God loved the world and gave His Son, John 3:16. Christ bore the sins of the world, John 1:29, gave His flesh for the life of the world, John 6:51; His blood is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world, 1 John 1:7; 2:2. Christ says: Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, Matt. 11:28. God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that He might have mercy upon all, Rom. 11:32. The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Pet. 3:9. The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him, Rom. 10:12. The righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all them that believe, Rom. 3:22. This is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one that seeth the Son and believeth on Him may have everlasting life, John 6:40. Likewise it is Christ's command that to all in common to whom repentance is preached this promise of the Gospel also should be offered Luke 24:47; Mark 16:15.

And this call of God, which is made through the preaching of the Word, we should not regard as jugglery, but know that thereby God reveals His will, that in those whom He thus calls He will work through the Word, that they may be enlightened, converted, and saved. For the Word, whereby we are called, is a ministration of the Spirit, that gives the Spirit, or whereby the Spirit is given, 2 Cor. 3:8, and a power of God unto salvation, Rom. 1:16. And since the Holy Ghost wishes to be efficacious through the Word, and to strengthen and give power and ability, it is God's will that we should receive the Word, believe and obey it.
" - Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord, Article XI, 28-29

The Election of God is not a picking and choosing of who will or won't be saved, by an act of sovereign will assigning some to eternal life and some to eternal destruction, for the sake of His "glory". The Election of God is the grace of God which He has toward the world, exercised through the power of His Word, in efficaciously calling, converting, saving us by this Word which brings to us the full and perfect work of Jesus Christ, appropriating it to us. The Election of God is that He has predestined us in Christ from before the world began; not that He has chosen some and passed over others. Thus we can be confident in the goodness and mercy of God, and in the objective working of God through His Word and Sacraments, by which we received faith, are justified, have peace with God, are His children, and are heirs of eternal life and that blessedness of the Age to Come.

God has willed that no one perish, but that all come to repentance; and so the Church is called to preach the Gospel to all nations, baptizing them; and that this Word which God causes to go forth through His Church to all nations is, indeed, efficacious and effectual. It causes what it promises, and so those who hear the Gospel, who are baptized, those who receive the gifts of God by His Word are, indeed, transformed by these gifts and become the righteousness of God by them.

This work of God is properly universal, for all. Without exception.

Men bind themselves to destruction not by the will of God, who desires their salvation, but by their own will. So that the sons of destruction are so by their own sinful will and choice.

The universal work of God is for all and is, indeed, for the salvation of all. And yet there are those who will refuse, resist, and reject this gracious and effectual working of God to their own destruction.

They do not resist God's call and grace to their own destruction for the glory of God, for God is not glorified in this.

The chief article of faith is not that God is sovereign. The chief article of faith is Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, crucified, buried, and risen again and by Him is the salvation of the whole world.

Assuming that the doctrine of Open Theism is false (which we must do in this forum), is this a true or false statement, and why?

Without having read all the multitudes of other answers, the basic answer is yes! There is no will above the Will of God and He knows the end from the beginning.

As far as Salvation and damnation goes, remember all by nature are born lost! God chooses whom He will save!

Romans 9:18-23 King James Version (KJV)

18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

God is the one who has fitted people for destruction, and God is the one who before the foundation of the world prepared some for glory!
