What's the point of spending an eternity in Heaven if we're going to be deprived of our loved ones?

Hi, Let's imagine that I could go to heaven, but that my relatives did not because they did not believe in God, obviously I could not reason with them because I am only a man and my limited power was not enough for their bad faith.

But I love them in spite of everything because they have a good side, a capbleq of love and generosity, and as for my parents, they educated me and placed me indirectly on the way of the Lord.

What is the point of spending an eternity alone there without them when my misfortunes on earth have been caused by that same loneliness?

The point is not to be alone for eternity, but to be with God for eternity (and with billions of your brothers and sisters).

It is very likely that all your loved ones will be there eventually. Although Jesus did point to his disciples as his real family.

It is my belief, there will be no memory of who is or isn't in Heaven, otherwise like you are saying there would be great sadness if our loved ones weren't there with us.

There will be no sadness, or longing in Heaven, only the reality that we are thee with the Father and Jesus, and it says we will be known as were are know, therefore if someone is not there they never were known to be a Child of God, therefore in essence, you "WILL BE WITH" your family, you won't be deprived of your earthly family, that would mean God forbade them, but they are the ones who never put in the effort not God.

If anyone comes to Me and does not hate
  • his father and mother,
  • wife and children,
  • brothers and sisters,
  • yes, and his own life also,
he cannot be My disciple.

And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple...

So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

I think we need to see things from God's perspective. He does not differentiate as we do. He has no favourites. I've had to face this issue. Both my parents, and my youngest brother, have passed away. My father and my brother were atheists. My mother was a believer.

Lord Jesus had this to say:

Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.” But Jesus replied, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?” Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers.…

Those who are born again have a new family. I am much closer to my spiritual relatives than I am to my natural relatives. I have nothing in common with my younger brother. He rejected Christ about the same time that I received Christ.

We can pray for those we care about. My sister was saved about 30 years ago, which was a great blessing.

Rom. 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How do you know they didn't call upon the name of Lord before they passed?

A few hours before death, the thief on the cross beside Jesus said, Lord remember me when you enter into your Kingdom. Jesus said, today you shall be with me in Paradise.

We don't always know everything we think we know. You may be surprised when you get there.

I also believe the former things will not be remembered. I can't remember where I read this. I'm sure we will recognize our loved ones in heaven..but maybe it won't be to the point..oh you remember when we did this one the earth? Lol We will never have pain, tears, sadness, decaying bodies...wow I can't imagine what that's like.
I have also felt sadness about leaving my grown children, and my little grand boys...I think that's just our human side...we care..we love...but we should put God before them.

So what will the redeemed be doing during the 1000 years?

After the saints are changed to immortality and caught up together with Jesus, . . . Jesus and the saints sit in judgment. The books are opened—the book of life and the book of death. The book of life contains the good deeds of the saints; and the book of death contains the evil deeds of the wicked. These books are compared with the statute book, the Bible, and according to that men are judged. The saints, in unison with Jesus, pass their judgment upon the wicked dead. "Behold ye," said the angel, "the saints, in unison with Jesus, sit in judgment, and mete out to the wicked according to the deeds done in the body, and that which they must receive at the execution of the judgment is set off against their names." This, I saw, was the work of the saints with Jesus through the one thousand years in the Holy City before it descends to the earth.—Early Writings, pp. 52, 53.

This judgment, committed into the hands of the redeemed (Rev. 20:4-6; 1 Cor. 6:3), does not decide who is saved and who is lost.

That verdict has obviously already been rendered. Rather, this is the "sentencing hearing" to determine who will receive many stripes and who will receive few (Luke 12:47, 48).

All things of earth will be forgotten.
And for nonbelievers....endless quiet
except for regrets.

Maybe you should re- read that whole part again and get it all straight.

The parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Hell tells you about it all. You may think you don't want to live without your loved ones that end up in Hell, but those in Hell that love you don't want you to be there with them at all. I believe it may give them some comfort to know their loved ones are in heaven rather in Hell suffering with them.

Your hypothetical is completely void of praying for your family to hear the gospel and be saved. Just because they don't listen to you, doesn't mean that they won't listen to someone else. Especially if they have a 'black sheep of the family' view of you, their likelihood of listening to you is less than if you were the darling of the family. So where you are weak, count on earnest prayer to God to send laborers of the gospel, someone that they will listen to, to speak to them.

There are many questions of this sort. The answer is, I think, that we do not know much about the nature of heaven except for the basics. We cannot comprehend the nature of heaven with our mortal minds.

However, for heaven to be what is promised, and what it must be, the difficult issues like the one you raised here will be resolved and there will not be any loss or regret. We will find it to be far more than we imagined.

The doubts are entirely the consequence of us trying to understand with our Earthly brains that which is not comprehensible here and now.

With everything you have said, I ask.

Does your family feel the same way about you, they do not seem to care where they are going one way or the other, and they don't seem to care if you are there with them.

There is a marked difference between caring for their Salvation, and caring whether or not you will see them in Heaven.

If they do not accept Jesus as Lord before they die, you will not see them, if they do, then you will see them, but you will not know them as Parent, Grand Parent, Brother, Sister, Cousin, they will be the Redeemed of Christ just as you are and in that we will rejoice and Worship God because HE is worthy of ALL PRAISE.
