Dumb people are far easier to control. Our education system is getting worse by the year, and I'm certain at this point it's by design.

Exactly why I'm glad my parents homeschooled me. It's really interesting how people think only religion indoctrinates children : p

IQ is not dropping everywhere - in some places it is increasing: In other countries, the Flynn effect remains in effect. The Unites States continues to gain at the historic rate, while South Korea is gaining at twice that. Flynn and Shayer also believe that developing countries will continue to show gains for some time.

FYI, the Flynn effect is the substantial and long-sustained increase in both fluid and crystallized intelligence test scores that were measured in many parts of the world over the 20th centuryFlynn effect is

I do not challenge your assertion about the education system but I believe there is no evidence that IQ is dropping in the United States (where you appear to live).

The problem with the gist of this thread is that IQ is a measurement of innate neurology, not education. (And they are somewhat independent of each other.)

One can have a higher education with a less-than-optimal intelligence.
Another can have a higher intelligence with a less-than-optimal education.

Politicians frequently convolute the two (I believe, on purpose). When they say the intelligensia, they really mean the more educated (indoctrinated?). Mensa, OTOH, maintains no political or religious stance, but those of its members mirror society at large.

Ones have considered that maybe lower-IQ people have been immigrating into these countries, and this has brought down the average. But even within families in Norway there have been measured decreases.

One possible explanation is a use it or lose it thing. Perhaps people are getting lower-challenge jobs, more these days, and this has resulted in poorer IQ test results. So, it could mean there is lower performance in taking tests, not necessarily lower potential.

One reference was made to American politics, being an indication that American IQ is going way down . . . and yet in the United States statistics show America's IQ is going up up up . . . while even England is going down down down.

But even if some number of politicians seem not to be very intelligent for making things work well, still ones consider Nancy and Donald both to be very clever and capable, though not using their abilities well, ones might find. So . . . ones can by being active keep up their ability to do well with IQ testing, maybe we could say.

But if ones are busy with less mentally challenging video games and non-socially stimulating things, they might shut down intellectually > not that they can't do well on a test, but they might be getting sludgy. This would be a risk in America, even if Americans are showing better IQ results than Western Europe is.

In America ones are maybe more free to think about different ideas and exercise themselves in debating, while in a socialist country like Norway . . . I think it is socialist . . . ones are not going to compete, mentally, as much so they are exercising their minds. They might have minds but not exercise so they do well on tests.

I think the real challenge and true genius has to do with being able to love and relate and communicate. This goes beyond just intellectual ability and has a better kind of creativity. And love can have our minds working better . . . the way God designed.

IQ doesn't work that way. It is pretty stable after 16 (barring physical brain damage). Immigration is a plausible guess. Otherwise, physical brains are being compromised by recent environmental conditions. (As an autistic parent of children with aggravated autism, I have a short list of suspects.)

Ahh.. your correct here.

I was thinking automatically about our educational system, but your right education itself has little to do with IQ...

"People are getting dumber. That's not a judgment; it's a global fact. In a host of leading nations, IQ scores have started to decline."

Opinion | Many developed countries are getting dumber, and the U.S. is likely next

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but...you know.
why i got a vision about it, dont know, but Father show me years ago, how big this decline is.
Around 1970, in Europe, normal man/woman, who finished 12 classes, had IQ higher, then our day 30 years man/woman with, at least, 2 highest education, after finished 12 classes.
and yes, it is done for, to control masses.

For someone with autism and autistic kids, you write very well. I've met a few people with autism, and some seem to have specific gifts.

One lady I knew had Aspergus Syndrome. I met her through a Toastmasters Club. She really struggled with speech making and it could be a trial for her (and us) to persevere, but apparently she could play the piano to concert standard.

Another young lady who joined Toastmasters specifically so she could develop her ability as a speaker for sufferers of austism was interviewed by a local "celebrity" called Andrew Denton, as she has "Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM), a condition which gives her total recall". Again I happened to meet her through a Toastmasters Club.

You might find the following link of interest.

Thank you. Basic autism is not a mental illness.

I would, too, though I have been in musical plays (where I had a script). Here, I can re-edit if my wording sounds wonky. I cannot retract/correct unrehearsed statements. (Besides slow typing, I have the same problem in chat.)

Not sure what you mean by "chat" - online chat rooms, or general conversation.

I've never participated in an online chat session, but I have an issue with general conversation, in that I'm hard of hearing. I'm OK one on one, but when there's there's a group conversation going on, I'm a wet blanket as I simply cannot hear or more accurately understand enough of the talk to really join in.

A year or two ago a chap I know from a sport I play came up to me one night and said "Now I know why you don't join in the conversation much." This was news to me, so I asked him why.

It seemed that he lost about 35 to 40% of his hearing overnight due to a virus. He now wears hearing aids, and finds it difficult to "join in" just as I do. I have more of a hearing loss than he does - half deaf in one ear, and virtually deaf in the other.

He added "I used to be pretty good at backchat!"

But as I said, I'm not sure what you meant by "chat".

Yes, online chat rooms. I feel like I am on the spot. Most of my thoughts are non-verbal, so in real-time speaking/chat, you are getting my first draft (so to speak).
